Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Honeywell - build you up to cut you down.

Well, I’m going on almost 1.5 years at Honeywell and I thoroughly enjoy the team I work for and my boss. I’ve noticed lots of people are negative and I just keep trying to stay positive and focus on the work. Then I get informed that training has been cut... ok, that’s fine, I understand... I move on. Go to my annual review, get a small salary increase, blah blah blah... ok cool... I move on. Then I get called into a short 30 minute meeting telling us all of our salary increases have been stripped away. Now I’m questioning things here... the person in charge executed this in a very unprofessional way. Raise up people for working hard and then strip it away. 2 days later I get called into another meeting and was told were furloughed from April - May. Other big companies that my friends work for just have to work from home. No furloughs, no layoffs. Oh, and then I have to complete the Honeywell furlough certification exam.... it states clearly in the email to not mention anything about the furlough in our out of office email Message. Really? Trying to hide it when it’s all over the news. Oh, but now we’re going to hire 500 people to make masks. Once that stock ticker started declining, the truth about how much they care for its workers clearly shows. Remember, invest in yourself, find another job, and if you died tomorrow. They’d replace you in an instant.

"At my age (55) I could never start another job at the pay I make with Honeywell".....Your days are numbered. Thanks for alerting to place you on the RIF list with 1 of 2 options. PIP to take take 120 days or RIF with 60 - 90 days, or "raise your hand" in 30 days.

Finance will accrue cost savings on until year end less 15 weeks severance for restructuring charges to PE yield.

Shift your role to China, India, Mexico, Romania, or make a HIPAC donation (https://www.fec.gov/data/) for more soft money to increase H1B visa's

‘But I still have a job’. The true thoughts of someone who has completely given up. You’re 55. You’re not dead. Honeywell paints this picture that you can’t leave, but it’s not true. Sounds more like a loser mentality or maybe you are truly just not qualified to do anything else. I’d assume at one point in your life you had some pride. Honeywell is really good at taking that from people who think they have no other options and are just happy to ‘still have a job’. Enjoy riding the misery train.

Do you think other companies are better? then yes, please leave. I have been with Honeywell for 15 years. I love my job. Do I get discouraged when we don't get an annual raise? yes, but I still have a job. At my age (55) I could never start another job at the pay I make with Honeywell. If I were 30ish, then yes, I would be jumping ship. Not everyone is in the same boat so getting advice from ex-Honeywellers on this site is not productive. Do what helps you!

And when they last cut the 401k, they never fully reinstated the contribution level pre recession levels

Everyone has already said it, but get out, and get out fast!!! In my 15 years there, I think there was a ‘salary freeze’ in 7 of the years due to ‘the global economy’. Cut my team by 60% after HOS certification(big surprise). Had several furloughs. Even though I was on salary, they cut our paid hours to 35 per week so they could pay less. Then I grew a set and looked elsewhere and immediately doubled my salary. Full double freedom rockets to Honeywell. You’ll be GE in no time.

I worked at Honeyhell for almost 15 years. I was promoted quickly and took part in their Leadership Development Program and met the CEO Dave Cote at the time. In that Leadership Development program we learned that it is a goal of Honeywell to reduce “roof square footage” in the USA, meaning they want to reduce their overall footprint in the USA and move jobs overseas because it costs less. Now, they benefit from the Trump tax plan and pay $0 in taxes as their employees get ready for another furlough. As a manager I was told to fire people based on age and hire less qualified minorities to make them look better for diversity. I was then terminated for discrimination and filed suit and won. They retaliate against me and was found liable there too. They will continue to fight and hope I will give up but I will never surrender! I am looking forward to that final victory and a bit payout from these complete a-holes in corporate HR who don’t give a c-ap about people and instead worship the almighty dollar.

I’m sorry to hear that. Get out if you can. Seriously, easier said than done but you’ll be much much happier. They do not care about the employees at all.

5yrs? I’m going on 25yrs, if you decide to stay you better strap in tight for the roller coaster ride of your life. They should open up a ride at magic mountain called the Honeywell Experience. It will go nice and smooth in the beginning, but then it gets a bit rough. Then you get shot straight up and down like when you get your review. Oh you don’t agree with your evaluation? Here comes the HR nightmare loops for days if you actually pursue something better. Then HR tells you we will look into it, which gives you a glimmer of hope as you head slowly back up. Then they come back and give you some line of “we believe the 1% raise was fair” Boom! Down you go and suddenly the coaster flies off the rails along with the morale...good luck!

Welcome to honeyhell. That didn't take long at all. Don't be surprised if you see them rolling back salaries and hourly wages. They don't need to do it, but why waste a perfectly good crisis?
