Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Am I still obligated by my relocation agreement if I am being furloughed?

Due to having at least 2 weeks of furlough this year (potentially more), I am essentially taking at least a 4-5% pay cut. Am I still obligated to pay back my relocation allowance that I received last year if Honeywell is not going to uphold their side of the deal by paying me the salary they had stated in my offer letter?

For all questions like these the answer is always the same. What is cheaper for HON?

You are only viewed as a commodity that increases overhead. Overhead is bad, sticking it to you is good. Leave quickly or take it and like it. #ShapeThis

Just don't pay it if they send you a bill.

The cost for relocating is NOT worth staying around. Leave quickly and don’t look back. Mention the situation in your negotiation with the new company and get a lump sum in your first paycheck. They will absolutely pay it if they want you bad enough.

Get out as soon as you possibly can. This is not new. May be hard to leave but you’ll be much much happier elsewhere. Currently at a different company with 10 or so former HON employees. Life is SO much better. Get out if you can.

You REALLY didn't just ask that question with any seriousness, did you?

That dollar figure was just what they agreed to pay you when you walked in the door. If you were told you were getting a raise a few weeks ago (yes, we know it was rescinded) then that number was subject to change within the 2-year period without voiding the employment contract. They also did not pledge to keep you working for 2 years. On that basis I would say you don't have a case.

Absolutely bound if you ask the company. Whether a court will agree and enforce those conditions depends on where you live and what is in your contract and your actions. A point in your favor is that a furlough is considered employment termination.

You have two options. Ask HR or ask a lawyer. HR is cheaper.

Arguable. Post the contract terms and conditions. I bet you didnt actually read it through and through. Probably says "honeywell can change terms at any time"

Of course you are. They do not provide hand outs.
