Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

COVID-19 Specific Leave of Absence Policy

I saw a few people asking for this information in other threads so I am posting it here.

Verizon will pay you 8 weeks at 100% and then it goes to reduced pay at 60%. For sales reps I believe target commission is factored into these numbers because that’s how they do it with disability. The following situations will qualify you.

1) If you have a child that you cannot find any other available childcare for and you are unable to work from home then you should email VZ.Emergency.Leave@verizon.com and request leave. “The email should state the child’s age and that there is no other childcare available, and that you will notify Verizon at the same email address if childcare does become available. Additionally, you must provide a copy of the school or child care closure notice. “

2)You can also use the above email to request leave if you are diagnosed with covid-19 or caring for a family member that is. You will need to submit proper documentation.

3)The email also stated “ if you are symptomatic but not diagnosed with Covid-19 contact your HRBP a who will appropriately code your timesheet.”

4) If you Or a household member have an underlying medical condition and were directed by a doctor to self quarantine and you are unable to work from home email COVID19-WPAT@verizon.com and fill out the forms they provide. If you don’t have access to the forms contact your HRBP.

Hope this helps!

One of my reps has respiratory issues, his Dr told him not to work, signed the form, recommend 8 weeks off, corporate said could only have 2 due to needs of the business.

I also wanted to let people know you can find this information on the new Inside Verizon app they launched today. It took me a minute to find it but from the home page Tap V Team Covid -19 resource page>scroll down and tap V team coronavirus resource page> Scroll down to Information For and under Employees tap My Pay and Benefits. From there you can click on links related to specific leave policies for Covid -19 and how to find your HRBP ( Type My HRBP into search box on About You, or VZ Web) .

What’s unfortunate is none of this was communicated to me by a DM or GM. A rep who was at work originally took a screenshot of the leave policies two weeks ago to forward to me because I was at home and don’t get email on my work phone. Had it not been for this rep I wouldn’t have even known there were these resources available that I mentioned in the OP. I feel like all this information should have been provided to everyone or at least management should have reached out and let reps know where to look if they had questions. You shouldn’t have to come on a lay-off board to find out info on benefit options during a pandemic. With that said hope every stays safe and gets the help they need!
