My gm just announced that they will take associates temperatures before their shift begins. If you have a high temp they are going to send you home, no exceptions. My question is if they do that, are they going to pay us for the rest of the day or are they going to force us to use our pto? What happens to people that don’t have pto? Do we just not get paid??

Our club does temp checks and has been doing it for a week now. Actually I'm a lead so I open the club at 4 am and disarm the building and the associates enter thru a designated door. They clock in at the computer and get tested and answer a couple basic questions about their health. If they temp high or have symptoms, they immediately leave and cant return for a minimum of 3 days and after symptoms are gone. The also have to have a doctor signoff saying they are clear. Coaches put in reporting pay for that day and they IMMEDIATELY have to call Sedgwick. We've had about 10 associates go through this process. Annoying as a lead to try to get the floor ready for business when you are called over to do screenings every hour or less.
Someone tested positive for Covid-19 in my club. We were notified and told to wash our hands and go back to work. Seniors and compromised persons were shopping at the time. It was business as usual! No CDC , no shut down for sanitizing. Because of HIPPA they won’t tell us who, so we have no idea if we were directly exposed or not! I still don’t see anything announced to the public!
Paying you. It's all on the wire folks. Read.
Clubs won’t be doing temperature checks until they get the supplies from HO. 2-3 weeks is the timeline. The only thing my club needs is the thermometers and register sneeze guards.
Does any club have an employee that has tested positive for covid-19? If so, what is the protocol for letting the rest of the club know?
Our GM confirmed yesterday that it's not happening in all clubs. He said "the higher ups would much rather you temp yourself at home before you come to work. You know when you have a fever and shouldn't come in if you have one".
He also said mask are now allowed because home office was sending throughout the company. Columbus North.
Walmart is not going to hire a professional to take temperatures. Legally, not just anyone will do. They sure ain't doing it at my club. Not even talking about it.
So why is my Club not doing this?
They need to temp members not associates imo.
I've worked for 2 days now. No one has said anything about taking temps and i have not seen anyone taking temperatures. Must be at only some clubs.
You do not get paid for the 3 days you will have to use PTO
Walmart and Sam's Club will start taking the temperature of each of its employees to help slow the spread of the coronavirus.
The retailers said Tuesday that each of their stores, centers and other facilities should receive thermometers within the next three weeks to check workers for fever. Employees will also be asked questions to help assess the status of their health.
"Any associate with a temperature of 100.0 degrees will be paid for reporting to work and asked to return home and seek medical treatment if necessary,'' John Furner, president and CEO of Walmart U.S., and Kath McLay, president and CEO of Sam’s Club, wrote in a blog post. "The associate will not be able to return to work until they are fever-free for at least three days."
The retailers say that while federal health officials have not recommended workers wear masks and gloves if their jobs don't typically require it, Walmart and Sam's Club will now provide the equipment to those who ask, as long as supplies are available.
Y didn’t u just ask ur GM that question?
You have to be on the clock for them to take your temperature. So if they send you home they have to pay you a full day. Plus pay for your testing.
You will probably have to go get tested and not come back until the test comes back positive or negative and then at least 14 days off and quarantined. If you need to be off longer by dr Order then you get partial pay for up to 26 days.
From what i read you get paid for 3 days.
