Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Macy's will pay some bonuses on schedule after all. Thank you!

I was so happy to get this today (4/2/2020):

To: 2019 Short-term Incentive (Bonus) Eligible Colleagues
From: Jeff Gennette, Chairman & CEO, Macy’s, Inc.

2019 Short-term Incentive (Bonus) – Payouts Scheduled for April 10, 2020

Dear colleagues,

Over the past several weeks, we’ve taken difficult but necessary decisions that impact our colleagues. One of those was to defer the 2019 Short-term Incentive (bonus). We have re-assessed based on current circumstances and I am pleased to share that we are now able to move forward with payment of the 2019 Short-term Incentive (bonus). These funds will be available to all eligible colleagues on April 10, 2020. I want to thank everyone for their good work in 2019.

2019 Short-term Incentive (bonus) statements will be distributed via My IN-SITE starting April 9, 2020.

With the pace at which we have been dealing with the COVID-19 crisis, 2019 seems like a lifetime ago. But please know that the bonus payout reflects the good work that was done by both individual colleagues and the company in 2019. While much of our strategy is on pause, I do have faith that Macy’s, Inc. will emerge from this crisis ready to compete and win again.

If you have any questions regarding your annual incentive, please contact the Colleague Support Center at XXX-XXX-XXX.

With Respect,
(signed) JG

This is the path to growth incentive. Tech/central support colleagues are not paid quarterly like several other areas who were already paid out in the quarter it was earned. We earned it, we deserve it too. Especially since lots of tech was laid off, it helps. Don’t hate y’all.

Is this the path to growth ?

True but in any scenario the employee should always come before any bonus is paid out. I can’t see how any bonus was made

Two things can be true at the same time. Associates need to get paid, and bonus-eligible associates should receive their bonuses as promised.

Call your local news stations. This is absurd to pay bonuses when you cannot even pay the employees what was promised, as well as your paying bonuses but want the federal government to help you out

I was laid off, so the bonus will come in handy. Don't be haters.

must be nice to get a bonus when associates can't even get paid for the hours they rightly are owed.
