Thread regarding National Oilwell Varco Inc. layoffs

Hello NOV employees. While this post will find most of you complaining about the loss of the 401K match, I want to remind you that more than likely those of you reading this are still employed, and for some of you even working from the comfort of your own home. For those of you who are newly unemployed, I'm terribly sorry. I agree these are tough times-unprecedented times at that. We are living in a world that up until early March we had only read about or had seen in a "far fetched" movie. In these times fear will rise in us and cause us to be paralyzed by worry and anxiety towards the future, however I challenge you and implore you to counter that fear, worry, anxiety, depression, hurt, pain, with LOVE. Love for yourself, Love for your neighbor, Love for your friends, Love for your family. If COVID-19 has taught us anything- Its that we are all one. This virus does not discriminate against money, status, ethnicity, or religion etc- It is a stark reminder that at our core we are all bound together by our fragile state of humanity. Take this time to reset, analyze what you've prioritized in the past few years of your life. How available have you been for friendship? How intentional have you been with your family? How many toxic people have you let overstay there welcome in your life? Today- Call that friend and check up on them. Hug your kids, be present with them-put down the phone. Spend quality time with your significant other-and actually talk instead of watching netflix. Check on your elderly neighbors who are at higher risk and can't run their typical errands. Limit your intake of news and social media. Make a commitment to yourself today that you will see life through a new lens, a new perspective-a new love for humanity.
