Anyone have issues with filing their weekly unemployment claim in AZ?

I was furloughed last week and also filed my initial claim last week. Everything seemed to go smoothly with my initial application. When filling out the weekly claim for last week's furlough I do not have the option to select 'No' on question 5 which asks if I performed any work last week. Also on question 5a I cannot put zero in for the gross revenue I earned for last week. My guess is it is because the system thinks I did perform some sort of work last week. Is anyone having these same issues? I tried calling the unemployment office but can't even make it into the queue. I'm thinking about putting $1 in for my gross revenue and see what happens because there aren't any other options at this point.

I spoke with the AZ UI office yesterday and got them to change my last day of work from Sun to Fri (since Fri was the last day I actually worked), so I won't have to answer any questions about how much I "earned" on Sunday ($0.00) of the furlough week. However, they said that I could have just entered $1 for Sunday and continued on. The only drawback with that is that you have to answer a bunch more questions about your earnings.
The representative also confirmed the info that was previously mentioned below, ie, when you file your weekly claim, don't answer Yes to the question "Have you returned to full-time work", as that will close out your claim. (As long as there are additional furlough weeks pending, you have not returned to "full-time" work). But you will have to file an on-going weekly claim and for those weeks that you do work, you just report your income (which just makes you ineligible for a UI benefit that week).

@2and the Governor has given an exemption for this. I believe this was mandated by the CARES Act.

Also please tell any friends and family who are gig workers or even sole proprietors that unlike normal times, they can get unemployment and the extra 600 a week. If they are on AHCSS this will not throw them off Health insurance due to income increase.

When you open the claim, one of the first things asked is if your unemployment is COVID related. That gives you all the exemptions.

I just got off the phone with AZ UI office and told her about our every other week furlough. Forget that Honeywell says the furlough is Monday through Friday. As AZ UI figures the week to be Sunday through Saturday and that is all that matters.. If you did not actually WORK on the Sunday for the week you are asking for benefits (weekly claim) then put NO you made no money and you did not work (I assume your normal work week is Monday through Friday at Honeywell), .

Also, the next week you would still need to file a weekly claim to keep the claim open even though you worked that week (every other week furlough). The lady said to chose YES, you made money and put the amount in and also put YES for any questions related to Layoff or reduction and put NO for did you return to full time work. If you put YES you returned to Full time work (for the week you are working) it will close the claim out. She said she knows it seems conflicting but if you don't do this the claim will be close

Again, she emphasized to forget what Honeywell says the furlough week is. Go by the dates in the AZ UI system and the days you NORMALLY work. Hope this helps.

How do you get around the requirement to look for work? I don’t believe the majority of us will want to be out applying for jobs yet...but isn’t that a requirement to receive unemployment benefits?

I think the issue is due to the Covid-19 waiver of the 1-week waiting period. This is causing an overlap between the last week worked (defined as Mon-Sun for Honeywell) and the official claim week (Sun - Sat). Since Honeywell was specific in saying that the furlough started at 12am Monday, you technically had to wait until Monday to apply for benefits, as that was the first day of unemployment. Unfortunately, that means you were still working during the official claim week (i.e., on Sunday), therefore you have to account for any earnings. That's really where the problem arises … i.e., if you didn't actually work on that Sunday, the system won't let you enter $0. So what are you supposed to enter? (it's even more gray if you're a salaried worker, e.g., are you supposed to divide your weekly salary by 7 days and enter that amount for Sunday?).
I think Honeywell knowingly takes advantage of the system by limiting the furloughs to 1 week at a time, so they don't have to pay out unemployment. Unfortunately for us, it also means that we'll miss out on the additional $600 stimulus payment as well.

I am having the same issue as well, not sure what to do. I believe it’s because i put that I was employed on Sunday. No idea what to put for the money. Also not sure if the question about whether I have returned to work is meant to mean as I’m filling out the form or the week previous. I don’t want to put wrong info, but if I don’t submit I lose out...

I am having the same probably with filing my weekly unemployment claim as above, and is forcing to choose days I worked although I was forced to not work. I called and went into the AZ unemployment office and all they gave me was an email to reach out to.. Going to wait until tomorrow if I ever hear a response before submitting false information due to their auto-population.

I had the exact same issue. Honestly... I think I am going to let it go. Actually I think there was a reason that they furloughed us for the times they did. Not taking the chance to rock the boat.
