Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

A small note:

As you're being laid off from Fiserv, be certain to double-check and read all of the paperwork thoroughly! They will try to screw you over on your way out, especially by forcing you to shift to arbitration-only and to promise not to sue them for any reason.

Especially read and refuse that stupid non-disparagement agreement that they're eager to force you to sign on your way out. It may cost you some extra cash to refuse to sign it, but your integrity and sanity will thank you.

I was termed but not sure what happens to our disability insurance after our separation date. Is it clear in the paperwork?

That's just stupid, no one would take a coupon for their signature. You either get a severance for your signature or you don't sign anything.

@5dcl+14pg5BEz , if you're getting a six-figure settlement on your way out, you're going to have a lawyer involved looking out for your interests and doing the work for you. Only a flaming m@r@n would do it any other way.

However, unless you're an upper-echelon executive, Fiserv won't pay you more than maybe 1 week's additional pay in exchange for your acquiescence, if even that. In these times, you'd be lucky if they gave you a coupon for a Subway foot-long in exchange for your signature.

Unless you do something monumentally crazy they will not enforce those things. They mostly just want you gone. Take their cash, smile and nod, move on

@4usi+14pg5BEz that won’t work because aside from your spouse, your lawyer or the government you can’t even reveal the existence of a severance agreement to anyone.

Obviously all the people upvoting the original post have never been on the receiving end of a sizable severance agreement. If you’re being paid $100+ thousand you’ll sign it. The alternative is nothing.

Or simply say when asked about Fiserv:

"I have signed a non-disparagement agreement, so I cant make any comment"

Come on people, just sign it. Don't listen to folks who tell you not to sign it. You'll lose money and if you even think you had a case, Fiserv has way deeper pockets to go 15 rounds then you do.

I fully agree with the previous individual with regard to the "non-disparagement". I don't think they can stop you from saying "I worked there x years and they let me go", but what's the sense of saying anything else? If it ever makes its way back to someone who cares, guess who has more lawyers at their disposal?

If you only get 2 weeks severance then I can see refusing to sign. But if you get a significant payout, plus vested equity, then I don’t see the issue in signing it - unless there was clear discrimination that you have proof of (like an EEOC claim).

Non-disparagement is standard. If someone were to ask you about Fiserv, just say “the less said the better”.

Every company does this on the way out. The only person you hurt by maintaining your “integrity and sanity” will be you.
