Can anyone advise on their unemployment benefits after the term of the voluntary severance plan ends. Have still not found gainful employment, but the claim was denied for lack of income over the last five quarters, which appears to be incorrect. (Was at work in Q 2018, but shows as zero in the claim denial). Impossible to reach the Unemployment office, both before and during the Coronavirus crisis. Rather frustrating. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Thx!

Not sure what you're talking about or what area you reside in. Most craft I know are hired by other telco contracting companies immediately upon retirement, if they're looking for continued employment.
we got paid in the first quarter of 2019, so you do have income in the last 5 full quarters.....I'm now self employed, and filed for the self employed pandemic benefit here in PA. the system prefilled in my income from Verizon, despite the fact I tried to remove it....and.....im getting unemployment.
They absolutely said on the calls that if you applied for unemployment, when unemployment notified Verizon that they would deny your claim. And, 5 quarters is correct, 4 quarters in 2019 and 1 in 2020, we are in the 2nd quarter 2020.
Wow, that's not what I heard on calls at all. I'm not in NY so I must admit to tuning out specifics for that state. And nice to know that trolls do exist. Look at all the fabulous commentary they bring to this thread!
Best of luck to you. I know this has got to be the hardest time to find someone at an unemployment office to be able to review something like this.

You knew when you took the package that you would not be eligible for unemployment benefits. It was in the paperwork that you signed and on the calls that they had everyday.
No income last 5 quarters means no unemployment, was always like that.
Sorry to hear you are in the same boat as many as far as trying to find new employment opportunities. Before I took the VSP I thought being an almost 20 year Technician for Verizon would give me at least some Telecom "street cred". Turns out it doesn't seem to really help at all.
