Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Hero Hours

What a joke. I'm sure the first thing on our Hero's and First Responders mind is to go shopping at Sam's Club at 8:00am on Sunday morning. What id–t at home office dreamed this up?

To: "Yes it’s all about you! These folks are actually dealing with the infected and sick and having time to shop and take care of their own family when stores are closing early and opening later. Get over yourself and think about helping others."

Once again, retail workers are considered less than. Folks dealing with "the infected and sick" are better than us. Those people deserve special treatment. Sam's Club associates should shut up and endure.

Doesn't matter that many of us are attending college to become a healthcare worker or teacher or whatever. Doesn't matter than many of us fall in the vulnerable group, that we are well past 60 or have families at home. We don't count. Our families don't count.

We didn't sign up for dealing with the infected and sick. Health care workers did. AND when they go to work, they know what they are dealing with, they can take precautions and people listen to them.

Now having written the above, we do our low paying jobs to the best of our abilities.

However, we aren't afforded the same protections as health care workers. We have mask or gloves to protect ourselves, and........ members who complain because we are wearing the gloves.
We won't be getting gowns or protective plastic face masks. We won't get six feet distance between ourselves, runners, and members. What we get is strangers, shoved in our faces, some who believe it's a government plot and all this is a hoax. We get multiple shoppers at our registers, two feet away from us. I could go on, but why try. You've already made your opinion of us clear. We don't count.

Sales are dropping.
Membership is down and most members who are renewing are opting for the $45.
Plus with the stimulus checks out.

Well why not 180 out yet again. Has anyone else noticed the radio message of we have changed club hours for your safety to the new message of thanks for your hard work.

Or should I say; "Whoops we forgot we pay you by the hour. And we will get our 10 hours of work out of you on your 8 hour shift."

I'm not saying that first responders and healthcare works don't deserve special hours or anything else that we can do for them. Just give employees on the Frontline some special consideration also.

You get over yourself. I doubt you even work at Sam's.

It’s an absolute joke. From telling us it’s about our safety first to seeing that there is extra money to squeeze out of special shopping hours for non members.

There is no extra time to stock and clean now. The senior hours and concierge are a beast that we can’t even handle anymore. Now you let anyone that wants to come in(you know that we won’t require any proof of being a first responder) and you just expose the associates to even more chances to be infected.

All while the brains at home office sit at home watching the numbers on their phones pad their bonus.

Like my manager said. They won’t be turning anyone away from sales. We don’t even have just seniors anymore. It’s all about the money grab. Maybe not the company but for sure the managers.

Oh for crying out loud. If you freaking cry babies can’t see how important why we do for the public, and how it’s important for health care workers and first responders, who work very long hrs, to shop at Sam’s or anywhere. Maybe you should quit your freaking job. I hear from so many members how thankful they are we are here. Yes some are asses about things. But it’s everywhere. If you don’t feel safe. Don’t work. The company said you could.

Healthcare workers and first responders have a high chance of being in contact with this virus. So why not bring them in and let them all shop at one time, during your employees safe shopping hours. I mean if you are trying to expose and make sure all of your employees come down with this virus, it is the perfect option. This company is a joke and I hope they have so many lawsuits when this is all over. You people can't even do one thing for your employees without an alternative motive.

Trying to look good for the public while we struggle to keep up with the workload and put ourselves at risk. We need hazard pay!

Its a propaganda. They wanna make themselves look good. Screw the associates health. They have handled this crisis very reckless from day 1. It’s all about the money and their image. They will give us another sh*t bonus to make us stay quit. A company that makes billions and gives $300 to its associates. Might as well throw in a free hotdog combo with that bonus.
