Verizon Buys Zoom Conferencing Rival BlueJeans

The carrier will pay less than $500 million a person familiar with the terms said.

BlueJeans, the company’s brand name, is aimed at business, rather than consumer users, with encrypted videoconferencing. It has 15,000 customers and isn’t available free to consumers as services such as Skype and Zoom are.

The conferencing service gives the carrier the ability to help its corporate customers build telemedicine, remote learning and virtual training services, said Tami Erwin, head of Verizon’s business unit. The platform’s security and integration with workplace collaboration tools like Microsoft Teams was part of its appeal, she added.

Of course, all the brown nosing koolaide drinkers are bragging it up on Linkdin. Next year it will go in the trash can where AOL and Yahoo reside.

Never heard of this company lol. Our retail reps will now have blue jeans to go with their blue denim shirts in our soon to be shuttered retail stores. I hope Verizon didn't over pay! But Verizon never overpays to get that flavor of the month company on a whim so I shouldn't worry.

Omig is this going to be as bad as the Yahoo and AOL deal wtf are VZ thinking ???

If the terms are true, VZ paid for a company has 15k subs. Basically paid 33k per a sub? Wtf ? Now I see why it was on our VBG push recently. This will be the next HUM that get religiously shoved down our throats to shove down customers. Meanwhile, Zoom and Skype is giving away the service currently and will eventually have roots with those customers. At 33K per sub, what is the rate of ROI?

Never heard of it. Well, I guess now I have. I feel bad for Bluejeans employees since Verizon destriys every company they buy.
