So 46k employees, 10%-20% hair cut (4-8k), your 200 will make no difference at all.
Yes, we do need more people with balls like that. Huge gonads. I am EOI'ing too if given the chance, no different than before. I suspect they will need more folks with the condition that we are in now.

This last year I’ve wanted to start my own business but was to nervous to start without some sort of cushion. The severance will help give me that security.

The same number that was considering opting before. Why would they change their mind? Most people's investments are only down 10-15% for the year. That's hardly a blip in the big picture. If you could afford to retire then, you should be able to now, unless you couldn't really afford it anyway. A year's emergency fund is standard for older folks, most have more.
