Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

All we do is complain, when are we going to stand up?

Complaining isn't solving anything. When are we going to stand up and demand safe work conditions?

What will make it safer:

BIGGIE: One card, one member, no one under the age of 18

  1. Actually clean, before, during, and after the store is opened/closed. Including break room.
  1. Give each of us a bag of masks, so not everyone is touching the mask. Our masks lay in the manager's office, opened for everyone to finger.
  1. Stop cashiers/runners from working side by side. Since these people are often interchangable.
  1. Plexiglass running the whole length of the registers/belts.
  1. Everyone, who needs one, is assigned a radio. No having to share.
  1. Everyone, who uses one, is assigned a handheld. No having to share.
  1. No return goes back on the shelf.
  1. Sanitize keys several times a day.

I'm sure there are other ideas. Workers need protected too. We don't feel safe, that's why we're not coming to work. Home office has power over our lives. Protect your workers.

Original poster here. I never said anything about a union or a strike.

A union won't pay me when I get fired for trying to unionize or when Walmart shuts the whole shebang down. Now, if the union wants to guarantee me a job, with my same hourly, 40 hours a week pay until I turn 70, an put it in writing, drawn up by a lawyer, then sure, I'll be the first in line to try to unionize Walmart.

Because as far as I know, those people in California.... you remember the club shut down for plumbing problems shortly after settling a strike (or whatever that was) way back when — no one paid those people's bills. The union people left them hanging out to dry. So, no.

Go ahead and tell them you want a union and you will be fired within the next couple of weeks.

A labor union, like the UFCW, would negotiate those things for you. Believe me, they wouldn't allow us to strike when the clubs are full like they are now.

Never. They are never going to do right by you and you all are never going to stand up for yourselves.

Its pretty simple really, close the clubs down. Marshall law put in place. People will be delivered rations. This would all be over in 10 days...

Dedicating one worker during every shift to sanitize all workspaces and high traffic areas.
