Some “wave 1” employees have already been selected and notified. There will be PPE equipment issued and restricted entry points to each building. Anyone entering will be scanned for forehead temperature.

Since working remotely is so successful, I wonder how my manager will justify his regular weeklong trips to SFO, London,Tel Aviv and other distant places, scheduled mainly to get away from his wife and kid and earn miles for personal travel. I’m pretty sure he is miserable stuck at home with them for so long.

Some groups already had WFH days for all the employees and were working remotely with their business counterparts. All the infrastructure and culture was already there. They are more productive at this time. I agree with the other posters. Those faking work in the office are probably faking work at home. No big deal. They miss out on the joy of accomplishment ;-)

@2jkc+14ycVnd8 you just summed up what makes me dislike this company so much. The lengths people go to not contribute and play the s— a– game is astounding. It reflects on the performance of company. People are not recognized for merit, knowledge, experience, quality, and quantity of work. They are recognized for b—s— that does nothing for the company. It's nothing but a popularity contest; gender and race another factor that plays into this populism. I tried the honest way. Gave up most of my younger life and figured out once I was passed over during SRD that it was a complete waste of time. I would of been better off staying stupid and playing the s—ass game (assuming the company stays in business). So heed this posters warning, it is indeed true.

PD Engineers - how are you able to do your job from home?

D&R - I would spend many hours with suppliers at their plants reviewing parts, etc. What are you able to accomplish at home besides paperwork meetings?

Vehicle Development Engineers - what are you able to do?

Studio Process - how is this being accomplished? I know that much of the work is digital, but models are aways used to evaluate themes?

Having worked in these areas, just curious how the teams are managing to keep things moving forward at home.

I can only imagine the huge impacts to program timing this must have. This will add to the misery as programs are delayed for 6 months to a year.

Thanks - hang in there everyone!

@2fxl+14ycVnd8 be careful taking on the slack. Historically those who do that are the ones the slackers collectively target for removal. You need to understand that the work slackers spend their time scheming and politicking. They engage in whisper campaigns against those who excel at work, then next thing you know you are out.
Whenever you see someone @Ford that you cannot understand what they contribute, they are providing services to the exec network that you are unaware of. Start watching who they have lunch with, drinks with, take walks with, golf with, text with and piece together the bigger picture.

Our team is also quite busy WFH. Yes, collaboration will be better on some projects if we were together physically, but it is not a job stopper. I find myself busy from early morning to way after 5 PM... back to back to back webx. Our chain of command also very busy.. hard to find an open time slot for phone calls. My frustration is the unclear org structure where some newly formed groups are becoming hindrances... TWAs, Job Sharing, politics etc in virtual world compounds that problem by slowing down the pace . Lack of clear accountable R&R is a heaven for the Dead wood. Technology enables us to find ways around these laggards and keep moving... This lockdown is going to stay for long time so better find ways to stay relevant to mission. Only way I know is to take on the slack and people will latch on to you... No permission needed if we want to help...

Pretty good plan by leadership to hold everyone home for 4 months. You’ll forget who was on your work team, and when you return, the group will be down 15%. Eliminates the drama in the office.

We also were told plan to WFH until end of August.
Our team is proportionally productive while WFH
Those who produced while in the office are more even more productive at home.
Those who pretended to work while in the office continue to pretend to work while at home.
Our supervisor continues to cover up the fact that 70% of his reports accomplish nothing, nothing new there been that way for years. He continues to lobby for more people. It is the Ford way.

Fake work? Really? I work more hours now than I did before the lock down, and so do most of the members of our team. If you are fake working, you might want to prepare yourself for a meeting with HR one of these days.

If you don't do anything while WFH, speak for yourself. Our team, is at worst, just as productive as in the office and is usually more productive.
