Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Those were the days...

I would just like to say how sorry I am that Sam's has changed so much...for the worst. The foul language and disrespect that so many share on this sight is disgusting...and it is proof as to partially why Sam's has turned into such a h_ll ho_e to work for. The other reasons are obvious in clubs...as manager and most assistants and team leads bark orders at fellow associates. They have no clue what respect means or how to do their job and they count on long time associates to help figure things out and on the other hand make work so unbearable... to push the long time associates out and then feel proud for doing so. Shame on you people for acting this way and/or accepting how you are being treated...unless of course, you happen to be a friend. It certainly isn't normal. It was so much better years ago and so sad now. Only thing guaranteed at Sam's is that it will change. In the mean time, you all stay safe and calm until you can say bye bye....and then, good for you! That's what I call a GOOD DAY!

As a long term associate of 20 plus years, I do have to say this company has gone to hell! How I am still there is a miracle. Took my position away that I applied to many years ago. Put me in a group of people doing numerous tasks that I never wanted to do in the first place. I am disgusted with what this company has done with my job there. The day I leave which I am working on soon. I will get on here and tell my horror story for the 20 plus years, Oh! No it's never been good from day one, but hung in there hoping things would improve, and collecting a pay check that's about it! I am seriously thinking of writing a book!

I found my way out...thank God! I hope you find yours too. As I said, it used to be a good place IF you were among the chosen few. Maybe even now it could be...IF they got rid of the worthless team leads and assistant managers. I know there are some awesome ones, but unfortunately not many.

And here I thought I had arrived in Shangri La. You folks are bursting my bubble. You telling me I aint getting treated right ?? Well dang , I need to find me something to get upset about then. Ha ! I know what it is ! Last week I went to the toilet and some silly person had put the toilet paper roll on backward. That really unsettled me. ..................................all joking aside the place is a bad place to work. Has been for a long time but now it seems they are putting extra effort into making it worse. I am getting tired of there not being enough stockers and being expected to do as much as the whole night crew used to do in an 8 hour shift. I am sure my experience is not the only bad one so do the best you can and be looking for ways out.

What planet are you from? They advertised the investment in employees of fresh and only invested in one half of those departments. The rest they increased their work while other departments got better pay. Then they took out the shelving and put in pallet stacks. Now it is getting warm and the cold shelving is leaking water everywhere just as it has leaked all years of at least six back to back years ( even after a remodel ). The pallet jacks work badly. Covid-19 is all about - and you want Mary fricking Poppins? I haven't even went into one-half of the c-ap associates deal with. Make it a nice, healthy and safe place to work. It looks like a sh–ty stable. Equipment to deep clean refrigerated shelving isn't kept repaired. - shoe string operation.

Oh yes...respect has to be earned! Yes, that is the attitude..."do what you are told". It's funny isn't it? That's something a mother or father would say to their toddlers or grade schoolers...NOT a grown co-worker. Sounds like these issues are company wide. Very sad.

Respect is earned yes, just because you’re a team lead , that does not get you respect! Especially when you throw your people under the bus!

It won’t get better. The greed is so out of control. They rather just keep hiring these bums that smell like weed all the time then to ask their veterans for opinions on how they can improve. The younger managers and team leads egos are way over their heads. They wanna give orders and then head into the office to get on Instagram and Facebook. They are basically handing out these manager positions and lead positions like Halloween candy. Skills isn’t required anymore. That’s why the turn over ratio is at an all time high.

I believe, in my experience with company, one reason things have gotten worse is because clubs are being run by younger inexperienced managers. I know it sounds harsh but home office is trying to push younger kids in club management positions and these folks don't have the know how. Young people with egos and will not listen to older associates who have more know how. Sam Walton once said "listen to your associates! They are our best idea gemerators." This doesn't happen anymore. Managers want to collect a paycheck and glide through.

Respect is earned not given. Do what you are told and everything falls into place.
