Employee fired on spot for having anxiety issues during video call with manager

I'm aware of an employee who was on a daily video call with his manager at 4PM, where the employee was having some anxiety and froze up to a degree during the call. The employee had just recently been promoted and was well-respected at Fiserv. The terminated employee received no payout of PTO and got his final paycheck two days later.

Hard to imagine this is the full story if it happened. The details sound like termination for cause which would require HR involvement. Anxiety issues, no matter how severe, would never meet that standard.

Nice story. Anyone who has had to let someone go knows there is much more that goes into it than that. I’m no fan of the new leadership but this story is a fairy tale.

They don't need an excuse these days, but it's nice that they at least tried to come up with one for this poor sod.

If it was on the Fiserv VPN I’m not surprised the video froze.

There has to be more to it than that. Why did the person freeze up? What other info did their manager have? They must have already been on some type of a performance plan.
