Offer to relocate to Columbia, MO or take the severance package. Over 50 and the prospect of finding a new job is slim now so I’m opting to move. Do I know what I’ll be doing or what team I’ll be on? No. Do I know anything about MO? No. Do I feel like they made this difficult to get us off the payroll? Yes. Will I seek other opportunities? Every waking minute.
if your manager did not tell you that you were laid off, you aren't! You likely were not because if you are with the company for less than one year, you cannot be put on the lay off list. Consider yourself lucky....and start looking for a job while you have time.....more lay offs coming for sure......
I just made my 6 year anniversary back on May 19th. I got RA as well same package as everyone else. They got rid of my whole team (Resiliency Service, Network department)as well my team in Boulder and Sterling Forest. My manager told me AT&T was taking over the network department for RS.
58yo with 25 year service RA-ed ( lets call it by a real name - let go from IBM ) today. 3 months sev pay and 12 months health insurance at employee cost.
I was also impacted by the RA. Been with IBM for 23 years, just turned 50. Late last year I moved to Global HR. I was part of a Corporate Service project in Q3 last year.
This is really hitting at a terrible time. Its a shame that IBM doesn't do more for years of dedication to the company.
GTS NA Security here - Had a 1: 1 today with my Manager - no one else on my team knew about this. Same package as everyone else. Heard from others including a DE in Cloud Security who was told to find another job. Cloud & Cognitive Tech sales got hit big time also... 5 year employee with good reviews and over 55....hmmm... perhaps we should start a LinkedIn group?
20% of our team in Cloud and Cognitive was laid off today...approx 15 people.
How do I know, I've been laid off? I had a 1:1 all of a sudden and informed about there may be some lay off in the team but my manager did not tell that is me. Also, I am with IBM for less than a year. Will I get the same severance package? I am sorry to see and hear this news and its very very unfortunate.

GTS NA here, over 50, laid off today. 4 years at IBM.
I will say having IBM offer Healthcare for a year at my current year will help me a lot.

I have been impacted. Do not know how many people are RA'ed in my dept or organization. However, IBM is on the roadmap to increase sales in AI & Cloud - Cognitive domains. Not any longer a traditional infrastructure business. Already low revenue generated products were dis-engaged. More to come from IBM to improve the stock value.

Not age related. I'm south of 50 and got hit today. GTS in the US. This is far and wide regardless of age or division. Same as everyone else...30 day notice with 90 day sev. Not that it matters but I did get the option to relocate to Missouri.
I hate to burst the age bubble, but I'm 30 and got RA'd after 1.5 years here with GTS. I met my quota too. My team is shocked. There is no rhyme or reason to this madness. GBS? GTS? TSS? TCIS? SW? HW? Chop chop chop chop chop.
Have heard that this won't be the last layoff for the year. So, buckle up for a wild year.

Same story here for Data and AI group: Last day June 22, 3 months' severance, health insurance at employee rate for 1 year, followed by 1 year of Cobra. Sixteen years at IBM, 59 years old. Finding another job in this environment probably won't be easy, but not having to continually worry about the next RA will be a huge relief.
