Thread regarding IBM layoffs

If this is true, then why were people laid off from Cloud as well?

"One IBM staffer of The Register’s acquaintance described the action as a further “pivot” towards the cloud, and that their role in the off-prem side of the business left them feeling well-positioned."

I know of at least three people who were laid off from the Cloud. I think this might be wishful thinking.

Can anyone here define what constitutes Cloud for IBM?

Is it ESA?
Is it GTS Infrastructure Services?
Is it IBM Garage?
Is it Bluemix?
Is it GBS MultiCloud?
Is it RedHat Containers?
Is it AI teams?

I hope the next step is for us to get out of public cloud once and for all.

The more you pivot to the Cloud, the less people you need.

What exactly has IBM done in the Cloud? They are miles behind AWS, Azure in Public Cloud. Has Watson delivered or is it just a hype? IBM is another HP. IBM has been around for years, just see the sorry state of affairs at one of the iconic companies. Management is clueless. IBM cannot grow simply by offshoring jobs to India.

Three coworkers got laid off. From multiple generations. Including Gen Z.

Most likely the people who got laid off from cloud were older workers. They will probably be replaced by millennials.
