Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Engineering contract work outlook

Do you think after aerospace recovers that the Phoenix area will have contract work available for EE engineers with tons of experience? Does Honeywell take ex-employees as contract? Any advice on where to start? Probably when is in about 9 - 12 months I imagine.

Is there actually more work intended for engineering. Come the end of the quarter, I imagine more RIFs will take place. Probably a merger of several disciplines when there isn't enough of engineers to make up a team.

But .. contractors leave first and return first to work. If you were a contractor released then the 12 month rule does not apply (used to be two years). You can be back the moment funding returns.

Honeywell HR has an unwritten rule. If employee has been RIFed, voluntary or non-voluntary, employee can not be rehired within 12 months of RIF date. Regardless wether full-time or contract. Personal experience. You have to have hiring manager/director convince HR that there are no alternatives.
