Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Severance enhancement is true, 10-15% reduction of cvx employees. Whoever is posting some of these leaks is awesome

Look at Joe Geagea’s email / workplace post

great company to work for, risk mitigation , minimal innovation, process avoids blame, constant cycling of managers collecting bonuses leaving behind a trail of bad decisions. Hard to believe its still in business oh that right great brand advertising that cons the public into buying the same gas 50c more expensive than arco! I must admit im impressed in that feat!

Really, @2ner. It doesn’t matter when you get the news. How about you receivIng the news at your workspace when you see your supervisor and a Security Guard handing you a box and giving 5 minutes to pack it with your things before getting escorted from the building. Would that be sufficient time?

Whoever is posting the leaks is an idi0t. It's helping no one. It makes no difference to the employees when they get the news.

@2mve....I did not say it would ever be 2 yrs! (said who wouldn’t like it to be)... the extra cobra is nice to have. No one delusional here. Good day!

@1adg, Don’t be shellshocked when you hear there’s no 2-year severance. It’s 52 weeks tops.

@Egl....I agree somewhat, who wouldn’t love a 2 yr severance? On the other hand 1 yr cobra at your paycheck rate is n added bonus that is appreciated... for me it get me to 65.

So is it 10-15% or more? JJ email under the Business Units section indicates that is only the starting point or did I misread?

Good luck trying to find a job at all much less starting a business during the next few years in this climate. You are a much more courageous person than me. Hope you have a backup plan.

This is awesome! I plan on trying for the EOI. I’m not ready for retirement either. I plan on starting my own company. I wanted to do it before but didn’t have enough $ for the startup. I wanted several months of pay for those slow first few months.

This will allow me to do this,

Go Chevron!

“Great relief to those leaving Chevron. Thanks Chevron management for showing empathy.”... agreed on both points! It been a great ride even if I end up booted this round.

@qvn, Agree 100%. I would like to keep my job, continue my career. I am not ready to quit and bow out. I have a lot of living, lovin' life, and money making left in me. You children run along now if you can't keep up with the big boys. And BTW, I am a millennial also.

As someone who has 14 years, I very much appreciate this gesture in the unfortunate case that I get laid off. People really should be more grateful. Chevron is a great company that doesn’t have to do any of this beyond the WARN period and basic COBRA administration. I do wonder if this could end-up further exacerbating the “lump in the snake” situation. But perhaps the company believes that the future demand for our products suggests that this won’t be an issue. Or maybe I’m reading too much into this.

Big deal on the enhancement. Good for you if you don’t have that many years. But for those of us with a lot of years, doesn’t mean anything. Max is still 52 weeks. I mean don’t throw shade, a years salary is nothing to turn your nose up at and I’m not complaining really, but if you’re going to enhance, enhance for all! My 33 years should get a little something extra.

Why did JG announce the company wide percentages and not MW. If you are “the guy”, you should be the face of that and own it. Let the others stick to their orgs.

Does this mean TPS cuts more than BU to achieve 10-15% overall target?

Looks like they changed it to 20-30% 3 hours later. Time sure does fly

Apparently having a work ethic makes you a boomer. Another embarrassing self-admission of uselessness by an incompetent millennial. I'd rather not be included, even though I am considered a millennial, or at least was born with them.

Time value of money is king. 3x Severance, Subsidized Cobra for 1 yr, CIP payout in 2021, MEA, relocation packages for those who move back to primary residences, Trump CARES Act Unemployment benefits. This is a great time to be unemployed. Nothing but online school for kids, no childcares, no summer camps are open. Just spend time with your families, people. Work can wait. This all will pass.

I don't want a severance, I want a Job. It's clear that the majority of the people who visit this site are not interested in working for a living, paying their way and contributing to society. All they want is a free ride. Keep wishing for that. That never ends well.

10% to 15% overall is not that bad. Wonder what the TPS target is.
