I was RA'd in 2015 (ie let go not for performance but because my group was sinking 35% YOY)....it was about a 25k layoff then mostly US citizens. IBM US worked head count was 120k then i was told so this is a huge drop and quite stunning to be at where you are at now. I got 2 weeks severance and 4 weeks notice before the RA hit ...Ginny then gave herself a $3 million dollar bonus to celebrate. Yes this is the IBM today also, zero loyalty you are just a widget to be disposed of when things go south. I worked at IBM 2 times and would never return. The shocking thing is I was approached several weeks ago for an IBM position and was being actively recruited which I promptly turned down...hate to be a bearer of bad news but yes IBM is actively looking to hire while they are actively RA'ing tens of thousand. Dont worry about IBM if you are affected just get out and move on...there is a much better world out there for you...

No company is "loyal" – businesses are not public services, they don't exist for the benefit of the workforce. Also, it goes both ways. An employee is delivering a service for compensation, not a slave. No one is forcing people to be employed by IBM. It's up to people to decide whether or not it makes personal sense to continue delivering their services to IBM.
All true. IBM is not a loyal company. 23 years dedicated, great reviews, senior person and now OUT. I am concerned about the future at my age. But I am always hopeful tgat the grass is greener outside. :(
