Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Shoes

So with all this if you having been called back your being laid off nonsense I found they only have two people working in shoes. Now you know shoes is the busiest place in the store and can’t be run with two people! It’s just not enough coverage. I think my coworkers didn’t want to come back being they make more on unemployment There was two that did. I know one decline first round and had decided to quit 2nd round for reasons of being worked to death for no money

I'm in a growth store and I was the only one recalled. So now I'm working 38-40 hrs by myself. I get help when I have a line. What's funny I took my lunch and the store manager and a manager covered my lunch and left when I got back. The store manager told me it's not in the budget to recall anyone else in shoes. NOT A HAPPY ASSOCIATE!

In our store 703 only 2 colleagues were call back. One FT colleague and a sales supervisor but the sales supervisor in shoes is a sales colleague now. That title of a sales supervisor doesn't exist anymore in our store. Sometimes other sales colleagues from other departments help out in ladies shoes and we are a growth store.

We hired back both our FT shoe colleagues as well as 1 PT.....the rest are still furloughed.

They actually brought back all 3 full time but no part timers or any flex . Lines are crazy. We still had expediators but none were called back so the sales staff is taking turns doing that,

Same department, same situation. They apparently only called back two out of the four FT shoe associates in our store. One initially declined, but came back a few weeks after being called. To my knowledge, nobody else has been contacted by the store about returning (FT, PT or flex).

It seems like their plan is to spread out the selling associates across all departments on their floors, with the exception of beauty associates, and have the managers/"people leaders" fill in the gaps. That might work in the summer when many stores are slower, but come fall and the 4th quarter? I don't think so, especially in growth doors.
