U.S.A. restricts H1-B visas

This is going to throw a wrench into the "restructuring" we're seeing.

"Officials said the ban on worker visas, combined with extending restrictions on the issuance of new green cards, would keep as many as 525,000 foreign workers out of the country for the rest of the year." https://www.nytimes.com/2020/06/22/us/politics/trump-h1b-work-visas.html

"India has nearly 1,300 captives of American and other multinationals, employing nearly one million workers. These captives were already seeing a spurt in demand for talent, Ahuja said. “We were expecting 8-12% increase in hiring. Now, with this order, we can expect 10-15% increase in hiring, which essentially means they are adding more than a lakh people 2021 onwards,” he said." https://m.economictimes.com/tech/ites/us-visa-suspension-likely-to-boost-demand-for-offshoring-captives/articleshow/76536123.cms

Bottom line is that if your a– is in a chair at home and your feet not on the floor at work then Honeywell and Wall St are going to farm your job out of America instead of just replacing you with H1-Bs.

What make you think we don’t have high math and science skills in North America? This has nothing to do with skills but everything to do with cost and control.

It is what it is boys and girls. Cheaper IT employees from Bosnia and Vietnam are replacing the loser Indians left and right, now that the Chinese are psuedo-banned.

The L1 visas were also banned. Here's a paste from a news article.

The ban on new visas applies to H-1B visas, which are widely used by major American and Indian technology companies, H-2B visas for nonagricultural seasonal workers, J-1 visas for cultural exchanges and L-1 visas for managers and other key employees of multinational corporations.

The current ban only prevents foreign workers coming to the US under these work visas until Dec 31, 2020. It does not prevent Honeywell from moving jobs to foreign countries.

There L1, inter company, is what Honeywell uses. Transfers American jobs to India Honeywell employees, then ships them to the US to perform work instead of Americans.

In the past Honeywell hasn't been impacted when H1-B changes made.
