Unions aren’t perfect, but better than this.

I’ve about union fear in management before. They were told to keep an ear out for any talk and rat it out up the food chain. It’s a real thing that managers don’t talk about and no one writes down. Kinda like EEI.
So much FAKE news here. The right to unionize is Protected.
Anyone who says talking about unions is grounds for termination is an id–t.
Did you know honeywell has union SWAT teams? Probably posting all sorts of alternative facts on here.
You don’t need a real union more like a employee club. If management bullies anyone like bs regular things they do. For example they say “I know I told you that you can take this weekend off to see your daughter but if you don’t show up Sat and Sunday they are no show day and consecutive days grounds for He/pip or dismissal..... “. Even though they know of single point failures in PEs, mechanics, lab techs, inspection...they don’t nothing. They put everything on one to two people so that margin stay 40%+ instead of an honest 10% for military stuff by hiring 1-2 others to learn the product line... With an employee club that you can only join my word of mouth and reputation... amongst peers...if management does a member wrong all members can sandbag and drag down output until behaviors corrected or employee adequately compensated for the wrongs. No need for bs dues and laws around forming a union.
I don't think a union is a good idea for my particular job, but I wish the Engineers would unionize. They way they are laid off at random, shifted around, left completely powerless, and then outsourced to BFE needs to stop.
Unions, unions, unions, 1st off this is a right to work state. You’d need 75% of hourly to be on board , to stand out in front off HW property line with “union yes” signs getting signatures, having their pictures taken along with names.. then you would have to attend meeting before hand , pass stuff out on the down low at work and pray you don’t get caught as that’s ground for termination on the spot.. then once you vote , if it passes there’s all kinds of slackers that would come out of the wood work , and if it fails there’s hell to pay from the company and everyone that stood out front won’t be around anymore.
The word Union sounds good and is good with the right president, chief steward, and area stewards and so forth..
I was lucky enough to start my career in a union shop at $40 a month and the union fought for you, gave you stuff and most of all negotiated with the company on your behalf, Seniority,Benefits, vacation, sick leave, bah bah bah and it was awesome and then came the down side of the bad union members.just like good cop/bad cop, union members ratting out union members, union members crossing picket lines.
There’s a lot to unions before you shout “union yes”
Most at HW don’t have the back bone to put the effort and hard work in for what it takes, and stay fighting for those rights !
I’m sorry to say Union days are over , except for the ones that are still going strong, like they have been for the last 70 years.

Unions don't protect workers from job loss when a company eliminates positions. It's especially true when a company's revenues go in the toilet. A good example of this is when I worked at UPS in college during the late '90's. The union voted to strike and UPS didn't have any money coming in for something like 16 weeks. As a result, the company eliminated a large chunk of positions and lots of union members lost their jobs. During the strike, the union president collected his fat $250k/yr paycheck while the members on strike got $50/week strike pay and had to continue paying dues. Union: No Thanks! It cost me more in dues and lost wages than it was worth.
iax,
Other departments are on your side also and will help with making a larger stronger Union.
The manufacturing engineers, work flow coaches and test test tech should start a union and not allow anyone else to join. We do all the real work and have most impact to the bottom line. Big H would fire anyone else who even mentioned the word union. They would be hard pressed to replace the real workforce. We we stopped working even for 1 week aero will feel the pain and negotiate better terms. Maybe include a few good MRB engineers in mix as well.
Unions are pretty inefficient but they help balance worker interests. Boeing had a 10% lay-off, a fraction of what Honeywell is doing, even with the debilitating 737 Max issue prior to covid, and the same economic headwinds as Honeywell (maybe worse). Colleagues at Boeing still have a retirement plan and great health care and they feel pretty safe in their jobs. Well guess what? Boeing engineers are unionized. It’s telling that Honeywell is totally opposed to unions.
Unions are not safe in this they are next
Executive leadership is the largest source of the waste at any company. It’s a club for emotionally stunted adults who act like they’re about 12 years old and think they’re entitled to enormous compensation.
Agreed, dude
Agreed. Unions need to be common again.
