Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Morris Plains office

What is happening? Anyone know when they will attempt to open? They sent out a video on how they will go about it, which looked ridiculous.

Other companies in the state are staying closed through the end of the year. Will Honeywell try opening sooner? I am sure they will.

  • "Murphy continues to insist businesses that can should have their employees work from home — a population he estimates accounts for 25% of the workforce. It's more than a request — it's required under the governor's executive orders, which have the force of law."

I was in the building recently and there are hand sanitizer stations and stickers on the floor directing foot traffic. They're in place in anticipation of re- opening but no specific date according to the security person I spoke to. I was also told that the place has had very few people come in since the lockdown and, if any, only those who go to the basement labs.

There is just this one little thing, the state of NJ says that until there is a vaccine or proven therapeutic treatment, work that can be done, should be done from home.

MP has been successfully working from home for months, showing that their work can be done from home. Specifically "Precautions that apply across all stages include: Work that can be done from home should continue to be done from home." and for Stage 3: "Phased-in businesses include:
More work activities, including in-person meetings (WHICH EXCUSE, ME THE VIDEO SEEMS TO SAY WON"T BE ALLOWED ANYWAY), are allowed at physical locations only if they can adhere to safeguarding guidelines and modifications. For example, work activities to be phased-in over the course of Stage 3 may include expanded dining, CRITICAL (emphasis is mine) in-office work, limited entertainment, expanded personal care, and bars with limited capacity. All workers who can work from home continue to work from home."

If they've been doing OK WFH since March, then how is the work suddenly "critical" to be done in the office?

I would fight that if I were them, to the maximum. Of course, this demon company would try but NJ is still pretty PO'd at them for leaving the state after getting a massive tax cut and then leaving "PMT HQ" and a hundred (dozen?) people there as Check the Box for having part of HQ in New Jersey to keep some or all (not sure) of that break.

So yeah...if it were me, I would fight that hard. My bet is that those who push back will circumvent it, if they even do it. They would know there is a good chance they would lose.

@cca, Maybe YOU aren't working, but I've worked (free) overtime every week of the year since being told to work from home except one. Except for the two furlough weeks of course.

You sound just like the management in the town hall talking about how we need to get back to work. What the hell have I been doing the three months?

Non-production and white collar RIF’s are expected between now and the end of the year. Expect RIF’s continuing in waves and one-offs over the next year.
