I’m moving in a month and was going to resign then anyway, now my former coworkers don’t have a job and benefits to count on anymore. I feel terrible

If a two week notice was given prior to these layoffs, it may not make a difference.
Agreed, if you have 1 month and you have concern you "might" be able to salvage a position for someone? Either way unfortunately they may not do the right thing :(
Easy fix. Resign now so the SM can save someone else, if you feel that bad about it. Need to do it asap. Even if you work a few more weeks, they can count one more person on their retention list.
So why don’t you say something????
