I was told by my store mgr that the company did assessments to figure out who will go forward and who will not ... dose any one knows what these assesments looked like, or questions on it ...

A counter manager was told that she will not be going forward. She begged for how job and will be back. Assessment just went out the window with her.
I'm only guessing here but in my store, the assessment seemed to bring back the most motivated, the most eager, the one who actually did their job and went above and beyond all the time. I can only think of one brought back in the first round who was lazy as hell. But she's the MyStylist and a friend of the store manager.

This all reminds me of the movie 'Office Space'. The consultants (the Bobs) promote the guy (Peter Gibbons) who didn't give a rat's a–. (Although he actually was competent but was driven to the brink by his worthless manager and id–tic rules & paperwork.)

Strictly Payroll Driven within the 4 walls of the individual building. Payroll had to fit within the budget.

Rank and Yank is management perogative. That is why H1B Indian immigrants will give their life to become a manager in Macy's. Remember they were brought in to this country based on their technical subject matter expertise – so called.
I don’t know the full answer but leadership skills, agility and past two years review scores were included is what I was told.
Macy’s spends a LOT of money on consultants like McKinsey to come up woth these formulas.
Just think how many jobs could have been saved without thr a hefty consulting bill to pay.
It’s not hard to “rank” people and I’m sure it could have been done without an out of touch consultant.
