There are far better stocks to purchase with way less employee unrest. Getting a discount or stock options is certainly free money, nothing wrong with that. But purchasing fiserv direct on the market is not a smart move in my opinion. Just an opinion

@2hzu+15HCcZrs think long term not short term. Short term it will be a pump and dump. Long term, the stock will falter

Compare the Balance sheet for 2018 to 2019. Sure the total liabilities (the big debt everyone seems to be so worried about) went up from $9 billion to $42.6 billion (373% increase), but the total assets went from $11 billion to $77 billion (600% increase).

Increasing your assets by 600% while increasing your liabilities by only 373% means this merger is good from a financial perspective. There is just one downgrade from Oppenheimer, while Susquehanna has been upgrading. All of the analysts are bullish except for Morgan Stanley being the only bear.

The company is profitable. Just look at the Income Statement and Earnings reports. Profitable companies don't get sold off into pieces like the other poster predicts.

ESPP isn’t material.

There are something like 670 million shares out there, and 4000 people a quarter maybe each buying 100 shares (which would be a very high estimate) is a small amount, like .08%.

The big demand, or lack thereof, is from institutional investors.

What do you think? Removing the ESPP Plan discount for employee's could have impacted the stock value because around 10% of 40,000 employee's were purchasing stock every quarter. I would assume that most of the employees are not buying stock, and wonder if that is a contributing factor to the value of the sock since there is less demand for it?

@2wvo+15HCcZrs the problem with your logic is that FB’s compensation is massively weighted towards stock. So it makes sense for him, at least until he vests, to keep that stock price as high as possible.

The people doing the majority of trading are interested in the short term. Today, tomorrow, next week, next quarter.

As long as those interests match then FISV should do ok in the market.

This of course doesn’t mean it will be good for associates. Likely it will be miserable.

The markets are speaking to you very clearly. You don't need our interpretation. However, if you really need someone to spell it out for you then - they are telling you to sell because they know that FB will rape and pillage this company. When it sits where FD was, then he'll either retire or go find another company to rape and pillage.

It’s reasonable all stocks are impacted. But it’s also very relevant when 1 stock underperforms it’s peer group. That’s where fiserv is at. And it’s getting noticed and the ceo has left the building and his SVP’s are selling like crazy.

It interesting that New Constructs Analysis report show's that the Stock is garbage, and Research team and Market Edge say sell it. What do the rest of you make of it?

I think most businesses are OK with average during a global pandemic that is k–ling businesses and destroying economies. Unless you believe that Trump has it all under control and then yes, the US economy has fully recovered and we are all immune from future disease.

Being ok with average sounds like the new fiserv

If you mean Oppenheimer downgrading from outperform to market perform isn't that basically how JY and FB said FISV would track on the last earnings call? Given the state of the world that is not a serious downgrade and it has already been accounted for in the current share price at mid-90's.
