Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Failing the assessment

Is anyone else thinking of purposefully trying to give the wrong answers on the assessment to get the severance and move on with your life. The severance will give some tome to find something else and this may be the kick in the pants to leave a place where I have performed very well for the company but I am not happy with the work.
Wouldn’t it be interesting if a whole bunch of us did that and they lose enough people that they have trouble running the business...

What are the areas who have to take this assessment? It hasn’t been brought up or even briefly mentioned in my area.

Remember when we all signed electronically that in order to keep our jobs, we will not be involved in any Class Action suit? Also, if you are let go, are we still given 2 weeks of severance for every year of service?

My dept was told that the assessment is 35%, mid year & 2019 reviews are 60%, and tenure is 5% of the review process on picking what employees will stay..... Any one else hear the same???

Allstate has not always done everything legally!!! Let’s not forgot the many class action settlements. Look it up.....

There have been many other companies that have done assessments as one of the factors for layoffs, Allstate takes forever on reviews on new policies since they have everything reviewed by legal, if they thought they could be sued over this they would just do random layoffs.

Depending on what is on the test, it may be illegal to even conduct one on existing employees. Take screenshots of the test in case anything happens to you.

They need a certain amount of experience and tenure to be left behind and they want to be the ones to decide who those people will be...

If this truly is a thinly disguised sham designed to rid the workforce of older, higher paid employees why not just allow them to volunteer? There's plenty who would sign up and save younger workers.

I am sure that they will make the assessment a condition of employment which means if you boycott it, you will lose your job without severance.

I’m failing and probably not on purpose but hey whatever. Assessments are a sham. They want to get rid of older workers Who are paid on the higher end of the spectrum and keep the young. They don’t care about about the dedicated employees who have been here forever who put their blood sweat and tears into this company. They are just basically saying f u! And no Covid 19 relief when you collect unemployment.

Wouldn’t you still get unemployment if you fail the assessment? You would still be layed off.

The only thing Allstate is trying to avoid is paying unemployment and severance. Great idea

I don't plan to try to fail. I guess I am actually one of the few here that actually likes what I do. Do I agree with everything? No. But I still love what I do.

All I can say is that I strongly urge you to take the assessment seriously. The assessment is not pass/fail and has been designed accordingly to avoid what you’re mentioning.
