First off, apologies to those who are anxious and want to keep your jobs. This is not meant to be insensitive, but is for those who do want to leave with a severance. So, as the title suggests, do you skirt around the issue with your manager and maybe drop a hint or two that you wouldn’t be crushed if you were selected? Or does this tip your hand and basically eliminate you from consideration? Since there is absolutely no voluntary component to this RIF, management may be inclined to save some budget hoping you leave on your own if they know. So do you drop a subtle hint, help yourself and hopefully help a colleague at the same time? Or just shut it and roll the dice and hope you get the outcome you’re looking for?

Probably no say. Remember the last layoffs? The basically eliminated everyone in Drive-In. That included all bands and performance levels.
Just don't take the assessment. Zero score likely ensures you get what you want then.
Hey smart guy, enlighten us with who exactly is making the decisions. Be specific. Home office and field.
As if your manager has any say in the matter. In reading some of these posts, I sure can understand why Allstate is trimming the fat. Wow.
A friend of mine, their company offered part(s) of their organization a voluntary lay off package. Their severance package is more than a typical package. Interesting approach.
My manager knows I would like to go with severance but likely makes no difference in outcome as looks like they have no real say.....Brandt’s Friday email indicates we will know in next three weeks..Probably like the field adjusters. Names ion a hat and that’s it........can only my hope.
Nobody would ever really know unless I told them this whole series if crazy events leading up to the must messed up RIF I have ever seen would drive a reasonable long term employee like me to desperation......I pray severance is out there for me but if not I don’t think I can press on in any way. Sure many if you feel the same. There is life after Allstate but what especially in this horrible set of times and circumstances.......bad to be too old to change while but to young to comfortably retire......rock and a hard place for those like me.
Already taking 4-6 Xanax per day just to cope now. If no severance I cant imagine the pressure.......don’t what I would do......please let us go on.
I've already told my CSL, I'm going to retire before the end of the year. I'm waiting for the interest rate to be announced in September. I told my CSL, Allstate should have three lists. 1) stay 2) go 3) leaving soon anyway
She has no input to this. It's out her hands.
I feel the same as you. I would take it in a snap. And it also might save one of my fellow colleagues jobs. I don’t want to say anything to management, because if I’m not one of the people laid off it could make for a miserable work life. So I’m just keeping my fingers crossed.
I’m not sure your Immediate manager has the say in itn
