Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Hearing no guarantee of severance?

Hearing that severance is not a guarantee as Allstate may be using the "60 day notice" in place of standard severance. Severance likely only offered for higher pay bands and tenure levels if at all. Not good if what is going around about this pans out. :(

incorrect, severance being given is 2 weeks for every full year of service but it is capped at 52 weeks

Normally severance is only up to 25 weeks not 2 weeks for each year.

There will be severance but it will be performance based depending on meeting goals for the 60 days being worked. Don't do your job well and as expected in those 60 days = no severance. Lame duck performance in those 60 days = no severance.

i think the difference is whether your job is being eliminated or whether it is being relocated.

"I will be conveniently I mean coincidentally sick for the last 20 days of my 60 and I may be having "computer issues" or "phone issues" "

Then don't be surprised when the company "conveniently and coincidentally" suspends your severance payout.

This isn't high school.

Severance will not be offered for all areas.

We were told that it is assumed that normal severance would be paid but that it had not been decided as of last week.

As flip flopped and poorly handled this whole thing has been nothing would surprise me.

Well let's say they give me 60 days notice..and I just happen to have 20 pto days left...I guess I will be conveniently I mean coincidentally sick for the last 20 days of my 60 and I may be having "computer issues" or "phone issues" for the days that I am there and will not be able to help their customers which means not only will they lose a loyal employee but all of those customers.

You're wrong, it has been confirmed severence will paid as it has in the past. Two weeks pay for each full year of service. Maybe more was also mentioned. Squash this rumor.

As bad as they have done this they better pay it.......the news media would not be good at all to their remainder of a tattered reputation one that got out.

All I can say is they better be very careful trying to play that.
