Regarding XTO service — Your pension is calculated only on time since the 2010. [Pension plan refers to this as years of pension service.] Your combined XTO and EM service time matters with regard to whether you are eligible to be a “retiree”. EM policy has two criteria for being retirement eligible: 15 years of service and reaching 55. Both must be meant to be a retiree. Anyone who leaves the company regardless of willing or unwilling before reaching 15 years and age 55 is considered a “terminee” rather than a retiree. As stated above, non-retirees have fewer choices with regards to the pension.
Is severance offered to new hires who get ranked below the cut off for termination/PIP?
CL26/F/42/15
CL??/WF/32/1 (new hire group last year)
No PIP option.
And they told us we wouldn't be ranked...
My understanding is everyone with 6months or more of employment we're rateable. The layoff affects all rank groups.
8% of new hires on PIP is my understanding.
1st year people are being ranked in their own group also. It's just not apart of the larger pool of people that they have to compete against. This year they increased who is made up of that group, I think it's less than 3 year now, or something like that.

If you just started 1 year ago, why are you being ranked already? I thought 1st year is not in this, no?

How much time were you given to respond?
Cl26/wf/28/3
Yeah, but over time Jack Welch has proven himself to be a total mo–n.
The original forced ranking system pioneered by Jack Welch had a 10% bottom. 8% it is still lower than other companies. 3% is nonsense.

People really need to check the image at link that the poster 2 down was kind enough to provide. that image should be passed on to journalists. It makes clear the bump up in cuts this year via so called performance management. There is a document I’ve previously seen on the intranet via searching ‘MRLP’ which also laid out the jump from 3% to 8%, but what the poster below has provided is much more explicit in detail. Reminder of link:

Those who are under 40 (age), how much time were you given to make a decision? 1 week?
11 years/ CL27/ Male/Not white/ UIS Houston
Middle 1/3 last year, upper 1/3 the year before that. Solid technical work, went straight to PIP at the bequest of a manager/VP despite great KOs from peers and project leads.
PIP doesn’t exist. Supervisor hinted it would be uphill and subjective, and wasn’t even clear who makes the ultimate decision.
I’ll take the “offer” next week. I have no intention to jump through hoops. I’ve lost faith in the integrity of managers.

Wow - unexpected number of CL 26-28 getting the PiP terminations. But those levels make 4 to 6 times their 'replacements' in Curitiba for example. And the retiree chops prior to 60 (or even 65) is huge savings. All the accounting is automated btw. Do you think John D Rockefeller had a soul? Or any of his corporate descendants - down to the present? If there will be blood, it's going to be the workers giving it up. Comes out of the ground, y'know.

To find out your CL level, ask your supervisor.
How do you find out what CL you are?
Wow, there are so many CL-27s here, I thought that is for managers who make 300K
Has anyone spoken with an attorney? Is it a lost cause?

Was anyone impacted today, Monday July 13? Or is "Those that are over 40 get 21 days to decide. Those under get 7 days to decided. All decisions are made on 31 July. So 10 July & 24 July respectively." accurate?
I am not an expert, below is what I understood from reading our pension summary plan description.
The pension lump sum is available to retiree only. retiree requirement is 15 years of service and 55 years old. For people leave company before reaching retiree status, you can get basic annuity payable at age 65. If you like to receive pension at age 60, the amount would be 60% of the pension benefit. The pension summary plan had a detailed discount table with age. In summary, the pension benefit is more discounted, no lump sum option and is not eligible for pre-social security pension for people who are not retirees.
ExxonMobil avoids unemployment costs by rigging its forced performance ranked appraisal system unlike its major competitors who were at least honest and provided layoffs during the Covid economic downturn. Deception, bias and surprise attacks are the problem, not the layoffs. Think before signing to waive all rights for damages. It depends on whether or not your XTO service counts toward your pension service. If it does, you have 12 years. If not, you only have 10 years pension service. Could someone clear this up for us who is in a similar situation and has already been offered a "deal". Was lump sum an option ? Would appreciate any help offered in clearing this up. Thank you.
I am 60 with 12 years of service. (XTO) Does anyone know if they are allowing people in my position to lump sum out of the pension
