How would anyone even notice?
The layoffs started this week at the VP level
heard today the layoffs start next week
Payout of bonus is for people who have been actively employed through 5.31.20 - not June 30. And the 3000 number sounds about right as the anticipated percentage was between 15-30%. Might be a bit high but who really knows at this point. It is crazy times so we need to sit down and buckle up. Good luck everyone.
@4qsx+15WDvcUK Double-check HR Intranet: Bonus is paid to those employed through end of FY (i.e., May 31), not June 30.
Bonus is paid on 8/14 this year...
@4lzp+15WDvcUK that is not true. Bonus will be paid for employees who are still employed after 6/30/2020
I am sure layoffs will be timed with psp payout. Notification last week of July with last paycheck being psp payout day
I left 3 years ago. Wishing you all the best of luck and I am sorry you have to go through this anxious time. Use the waiting time to prepare yourselves. Think like a smart, confident free agent. Get yourself ready, for any outcome. Tune up your resume. Get ready to update your LinkedIn profile. If you have a NIKE supplied phone, save your contacts somewhere (NIKE made me leave my phone). Remove your personal files, photos from laptop. Have a friend watch over your shoulder to validate. Don’t take any NIKE info/files etc. Rest up and stay well.
2,000 - 3,000 is 15-25% of the total WHQ workforce. Calling B.S. on that.
I heard at least 3,000 from WHQ and 1,000 from the key cities....
@3bqu ah...love rumors...wouldn't surprise me
@2dqb no worries about speculating; what else can we do! Wow...if true, that is a significant number of people and terrible too....
Sorry to speculate but I heard 2,000 from WHQ in round 1.
@2ubh typically, severance equates to x weeks per a year of service (depending in band level), x months of health insurance, PTO balance payout, and, of course, one's final paycheck up to the date of separation.
nike never seems to show up on the warn list. I wonder if they give people 60 days severance if they don't have to do warn. Not sure what severance has been in past layoffs.
This is truly odd to say and I am surprising myself given the current climate in terms of unemployment but part of me wants to be part of the layoffs.
@1lss, in a way or from a legal standpoint, Nike did give that notice when they announce the intention to reduce the workforce. However, Nike cannot inform employee by employee about the layoffs until it happens. If they do that, then it seems that it was predetermined in terms of who, exactly, gets the boot.
Doesn’t the WARN Act require Nike to give 60 days notice before large layoffs?
@1sgo, no idea about numbers or percentages; no chatter about that and I do not want to speculate. I do hope that the numbers are not massive though. All the best to you and to all - directly and indirectly impacted.
any ideas on the numbers yet?
End of July, this month, marks finalization of the August layoffs. Similarly, end of August will pave the way for September layoffs. The whole process will take three months with two rounds of layoffs
