Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Process is very simple

I was on a call that included one of the VP's in HR, there is a lot of bad info out there, the whole process is very simple, they were quite clear on what the options were.

There are 3 (4) possibilities you can be notified of:

1) you are told you are being laid off.
2) you are being retained by the company.
3a) you get an assessment and then end up being retained.
3b) you get an assessment and are then told you are being laid off.

You are not eligible for severance with 2 and 3a since you are keeping your job.
You are eligible for severance with 1 and 3b as the company is letting you go.

If you are in the 1 and 3b group you can if you want apply to open jobs, but you are under no obligation to apply for open jobs.

You cannot be assigned a different job, you either keep your job or you lose your job.

Severance is 2 weeks for every full year completed, if your layoff date is 1 week before you would reach another year of service you are out an additional 2 weeks of severance.

Some of our leaders decided to perform assessments based on experience with employees, it is less Painful for them this way, we have a lot of leaders without backbones

Who thinks it’s ok to hold others fate in your hands - and not say anything to these people? Eat or be eaten. The whole basis of this dynamic is sick. Done and over. I care about people not bottom line.

Unfortunately majority of the work has not been completed. That is why there seems to be so much miscommunication. Because there is. Some AORs still don’t know the end headcount.

The misinformation is out there because the leadership is not transparent and hasn't been for years. They say one thing and indicate another in their actions.

When are we supposed to find this information out? My department hasn't mentioned assessments at all, and there has been no talk at all regarding who is affected.

People on these forums have been saying there was an assessment and we'd be told on July 10, then they canceled meetings so it moved to the 14th (today) then others say no assessments while others say they've already gotten them or even been told they've been laid off.

This is beyond confusing.

Can you tell us what the communication you received today said regarding severance. Thank you

This sounds very similar to a communication we received this morning, with more detail regarding severance. If this is accurate, this is very much the way prior layoffs/office closings were handled, with the exception of the assessment part.

Thanks for the info.

Tom Wilson did not mention 80% of what OP mentioned. He just slurred through a couple note cards around swigs of morning bloody marys. And if you take anything Eric "b—s—ter" Brandt has to say with anything more than a grain of crystalized fecal matter then Allstate has tested your gag reflex to the point of no return.

The info is factual. HR is getting a cut as well. Some areas are being completely assessed others are gaining head count. The company is being shady about everything and any info that looks HR is more than likely factual. This whole situation is awful for everyone. This company doesn’t care about you unless you are bonus eligible, HR knows that. Point blank. Read through the junk in these posts to the factual info like this one.

Specifics were not covered. I know from experience, they can and do offer another job, sometimes elsewhere with no move package. That happened back in 2009 and 2010 with auto consolidation.

This wasn’t on a private HR call. All of this was announced on the All employee town hall calls. Tom Wilson’s call at the beginning of June spoke about this and so did the Eric Brandt call at the end of June.

Wondering why someone who would have access to a confidential HR call would use this forum to disseminate information. If I am wrong, and the call was not confidential then why is not everyone aware of it through company wide communication. It sounds straight forward by why all the intrigue.

No offense but I don't believe anything this company says. Nothing. They are proven habitual liars and scam artists. The HR at Allstate are filled with some of the most pompous boot lickers and sh*t eaters that God ever put on this earth. If Allstate isn't screwing over their employees and customers in some way then they aren't breathing.
