How is the layoff conducted? 1 on 1 with th emanager? With HR? Is it scripted? Can you talk, discuss? Phone call vs in-person?

Are half years counted in severance? Or do they round up or down?
An invitation gets sent by HR to attend a townhall. You show up and soon realize it’s all the low performers and trouble makers. Then HR starts and says, I’ll be brief you are laid off, thanks for your service.
Depends on number of layoffs at your location. For bigger rounds, you may be called to a conference room. Typically your supervisor, sometimes a PDR instead and also an HR rep deliver the news personally. If you “win” a position in a ROM round, you get a phone call from your supervisor. It is not a fun day for anyone. You get a box to get your personal items collected and then are escorted out the door to your personal vehicle after turning in badge and workstation keys. Typically, management will inquire as to your emotional frame of mind and fitness to drive home. They will call a cab to get you home if you are a wreck. And some people will be a wreck. You will see some of your colleagues and friends in tears when they discover the employee value proposition is a little more complicated than when they took that first signed on. It will be a long day, especially if you are at the end of the list.
Even the survivors feel remorse when their colleagues are shown the door. At some larger locations, especially where tangible threats are present or perceived, armed plainclothes state police wearing blazers over kevlar vests will be stationed at exits and chokepoints. It is not a big deal, it is for everyone’s safety but it is a little freaky.

In 2014 they literally showed up with dudes with guns and escorted people off the premises in Houston. Obviously looked terrible at the time. This time may be a conference call so I would just have technical difficulties, haha.
