Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

It's good to be back at work

I'll say it, even if it might catch me some flack. Macy's might not be the perfect place to work but it's a job and it certainly beast sitting at home day in, day out wondering what's going to happen if I lose my job in this economy.

So yes, I'm happy to be back at work and happy to see my coworkers. Even the customers have been acting better than usual. Fewer tantrums, more consideration.

All in all, I'm glad we're moving forward.

Full-timers in my store 703 are getting 28 - 30 hours a week and only 25 associates were call back to work.

Well if you get pulled back to working 2-3 days a week. You can still collect unemployment but just make sure you put the amount you make from M in the unemployment or they will make you pay it back when they do a audit.

I like that Nike, Nordstrom’s and Target messaged their stance. Of course nothing but crickets from Macys.

It’s a tone-deaf time to be selling.

Hours for full time in my store are 1045am-715pm, usually 4 days a week, sometimes 5. No OT. Some are only getting 3 days a week so that's really not FT. I had one person tell me she was NOT told she wouldn't be getting her previously 32-40 hours guaranteed when she was called back and she feels lied to about it.

I agree, it's good to be back to work. It's hard and we are tired, but we are earning a living and supporting our families. But I will say that people are getting burned out and there's no one to call if someone calls off at the last minute.
