In 1 year from today, June 29, 2020, you will see the price of WTI oil go up and down, but it will never break the $50 mark.

@nzds, Since you are commenting on the validity of a 23 day old post on the price of commodities, we would like for you to also come back and post in one year and let us know that the OP also still wrong. Thanks.

@3jeg why only the 0.01%? Tech isn’t just all coding and software. There’s actually a lot of ppl in tech from O&G. Plus CVX has a fairly big presence in Bay Area anyways. I’m not really talking about the other oil companies or locations unless ppl willing to move away. now if you already late career this is a moot point I agree. It really wouldn’t matter at that point cause it’ll be hard to jump into any industry cause of the whole age discrimination thing. For the younger or mid career folks definitely consider it cause the longer you stay in O&G the harder and harder it’s gonna be to get out.

oil has been so volatile over the past decade and you know every oil company basically lives or dies by the price of this commodity, which they can't really control. i left the oil industry entirely after almost a decade of continuous layoffs, reorgs, etc., for tech and never looked back. i highly suggest people take a severance and look elsewhere - especially for the ppl in Bay Area. tech as a whole just has more opportunities and the compensation is a lot better (like a LOT better).

Well, no one is hiring, layoff's are happening across the board everywhere, so there's that pesky little fact that you're ignoring with your plan. So, your " take advantage of the generous severance" in your example only applies to those involuntarily let go. If you actuall ywant a decent job, or even a "better than nothing" job, just pray that you don't get laid off. You don't want to be on the street at a time like this.

Guys, just take advantage of the generous severance and just go work for the competition. They will be hiring on this oil rebound and so will chevron. Only thing is it will be stupid going back to them as you will have to repay the severance.

I have so much money I don’t know what to do with it. I hope I get laid off as the severance will fatten my bank account nicely.

You guys can fight amongst yourselves like rats on a sinking ship, but the reality is that the oil business as a whole is going to be f’ed for a long time, and Chevron is going to suffer along with every other producer. The individual execs don’t matter, not like they ever cared about regular employees anyway. Those execs can’t make 30+ million unemployed Americans need to buy gasoline like they did when they had jobs.

The Transformation is good and will continue. The company is positioning for long term success in the different dynamic of our business today.

People in Leadership positions in Chevron face no repercussions for poor performance. None. PMP’s only exist for the lowly individual contributor level. How else can you explain the fact supervisors, leads or managers never get bumped back or never get laid off. I will say I’ve experienced so many non Chevron ways and behaviors from folks that the phrase has lost any meaning for me. I notice though we really don’t use it anymore. So maybe that’s a good thing.

JG and JJ should be fired immediately. These are the guys for projects overruns. Do they need MW directive for transformation? They could have initiated at the JW time when Gorgon, Wheatstone, Angola LNG, and CDB projects were loosing significant money. These days they speak like parrots on Transformation and Upstream Evolution. 😀 Can they claim one significant achievement that was fantastic for Chevron financial results? Chevron is a cash cow for them and other executives. Their failure impacts common employees who put their best for the Company.

MW clearly stated last week that the functional transformation will continue as planned regardless of an uptick in the price of oil. This is about streamlining the corporation, doing more with less and cutting costs. Pay attention when the leaders speak and you will know that the ten to fifteen percent cuts are coming as planned and on the schedule they have published. Get with the program.

I don’t think so. MW already said it in the last town hall. He doesn’t want to swallow his pride and rather lay-off people. Plus you basically throw Joes plan on the garbage which will hurt his PMP. Even thought this guy should of been laid off long time ago with all the MCP fails. Doesn’t surprise me with all these a– backward decisions this company does. Plus
