Breaking News! 27 Carmen walked off property today in West Colton. Seems like the FRA and NTSB had been investigating there inspection practices and repair billing and found 48 different violations including fraudulent billing and air slips. So beware other yards, dont falsely bill for repairs that were never done and fill out airslips with false info.

UP cut the Carmen down to where they can no longer do their jobs correctly and get the trains out on time. Investors are now managing the company(PSR). So don’t blame the crafts. FRA has no way to enforce head count.
Nobody was walked off. Fake news. Looks good—> HIGHBALLLLLL!!!!!!!!
What a bunch of carman pansies! Your willing to lie and falsify records of fear of your job? Cmon, what a joke!
Has to be a manager making comments. Make the numbers or you’re unemployed. Maintenance people do not have six figure salary and have minimal union support. You are damn right they will look the other way. When the wrongful deaths and injuries gain attention, maybe then something will improve.
This thread title should be changed to “The Carman Whistleblowers”, every carman is squealing on the other carman now.
You think your protecting your job by cutting corners, but your really setting the tone of what kind of man you are, and your children will see that and become that. Weak, scared and not able to stand up for whats right. Just like the cops that stood around while George Floyd was being murdered. Society doesnt need people like that.
Heres a crazy idea for all you Carman. Tommorow, go into work and put in an honest days work every last one of you. Inspect, repair, whatever it is you do. Give it 100 percent. Now if your gonna sit there and tell me that your afraid of getting repremanded for doing what your entitled to do, required to do, then I think your Union should get involved. Now if your Union wont help you, then you should file a lawsuit against them. There not protecting you, you have a case. But its going to take each and eveyone of you Carmen to get on board. Show some courage, integrity, go home to your familys proud that you did an honest days work and made a difference. Stop acting like a bunch of beatin dogs. There is no way Union Pacific Railroad is going to fire you for doing your job. If they did you could get on channel five news and you would have job offers coming at you left and right. Honesty and integrity are still highly valued qualities from companys alot bigger than UP. Grow a pair, man up. And put your skills to work
Englewood class 1 ABT is done in less than 5 minutes on 7000' + trains. FRA turns a blind eye.
Carman are a joke anyway. There Union is a bigger joke. Get rid of the Union and bring in guys who want to work and tale pride in there job. UP would be way better off. I mean listen to the guy who says he highballs repairs, bills for work not done and can excuse it because he was backed into a corner? To protect his family? Wow your kids and wife have a real scumbag for a father and husband.
FRA could have busted them for many willful violations before they cut 90% of our workforce.
Sounds like the Denver and Cheyenne yards, or whatever is left of them. Management pulls bad order cards constantly and sends sh– on its way. "If it rolls in, it can roll out." As far as protecting their families, the guy that said that clearly has no idea what carmen actually do. The job is to inspect, and repair. Management pulls the bad orders off of cars that were inspected. Secondly, they don't let you repair anything that will take any amount of time (more than five minutes). If a Carmen blindly inspects and doesn't repair anything, then f— that guy. Most of these guys do their job, however management doesn't want them to do it because bad orders drive up dwell and take time to actually repair.
they need to get the FRA too Albina. This shop does not follow FRA from management to the crafts.
The Carman craft had it coming. One thing all of them have in common is no respect for eachother or there craft. This should have come as no suprise.
Wichita you’re next!
Hopefully Carman has good documentation. Same thing happened in houston service unit but managers will have to pay the price cause its well documented.
Maybe they felt they could never move forward with so many illiterates.
Thats what happens to guys that are always threatened with there jobs. To protect themselves and there families they will do what they need to do. The unfortunate reality is when they do that there is nothing they can do, the union can do, and the carrier defiantly won't have your back. You feel like you are backed into a corner. Trying to protect yourself.
Sincerely
Former Hinkle Carman
Wait...... You mean that there's people who lie at the Railroad..... Hmmmm
Its all part of the PSR plan and you all fell for it.
Looks like all the yards will be going down for falsifying documents. There will be a lot of scrambling now.
