Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

It is a no win. Retail or Telesales

Retail employees have not been given all the information about thier future pay. What is our new hourly base pay. What is our markets at risk? We will find out on July 22.

Then on a call yesterday Krista tells us that telesales opportunities will be posted "soon" but we don't know how telesales new compensation plan works.

So Verizon wants people to make a huge decision without the things that matters the most. The hard numbers to understand how our individual pay will look.

At first the impression many people got was Verizon is trying to rush into this and that is why the announcement and information is lacking. But it is clear now. After meeting after meeting the same bit of limited information is repeated over and over again making it sound so fantastic. This is a calculated formula to have people moved to part-time and ultimately quit the company. Anyone who believes that these changes are good for employees are delusional. This is a calculated low-risk reduction of force effort

Here in Pa. the people on the wireline side don’t even know what we are talking about when we talk about the pay changes and full or part time status changes.
They get a raise this month. They keep whatever they have.
If I could jump over to that side I would in a heartbeat.

It’s pretty easy to figure out what will be added to our current salaries if you stay at 40 hours a week It will be anywhere from 4,000 to 4,800 yearly. In addition a 3% to 5% raise in salary based on your last year numbers. So that could be anywhere from 0.00 to 2,000. Be careful about jumping into a telesales job prior to receiving the bump in salary. If you take a telesales job prior to August 1st you will not get the salary bump HOWEVER if say in 3 to 6 months you decide to move your base salary will stay intact. They do not want you to know this. Of course there will be no guarantee those jobs will be available down the road. The bottom line is that anyone working the 40 hours is in a very vulnerable position. One last thing and this is crucial to any decision you make: If you move to telesales and decide that it’s not for you and want to come back to retail you will not get the 40 hours. The second you leave the retail store you are grandfathered OUT. 100% facts

Here's my best guess. During the training they used a target of like $883 or something. That was exactly 65% of the current at risk. I'm going to assume that's no coincidence and probably the model they will use. If we take the remaining 35% that's $452 rolled into hourly. Divide that by 40 for hrs per week and again by 4.33 for week per month and it would be about 2.61 raise per hour. I've got to think this model is close enough to estimate what it will look like for most going forward.

They are like what? You want all the information before you make a decision? That's not normal. You should just lick my boot and say thank you for whatever we give you.

If you have not left a review on the childish training, go back and do so. My husband works in corp comms and they are aware of the insensitive nature of the training and also the rumblings of discontent.

Option 1 - no idea of pay or Option 2 - no idea of pay. 2 great options we are really excited about

Talking to my local HR person yesterday about this same frustration. She could no wrap her head around why I was upset over not having all the information yet. I added we were told the training would answer all our questions. She is so out of touch.. she asked me didn't I find the training fun.. I quickly responded hell no it was insulting. Nothing like the company making a game out of cutting our pay. She told me I was overreacting.. I hung up.
