Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Executives And Safe Upper Management Excited.

Leadership. Can you please tone down your excitement for the transformation? I’ve heard the word excited multiple times in several update calls. We know you are safe but we are not. Please keep telling us the discriminatory practices that will be used in selections and tell us how they are not discriminatory. Please move up the letting go of 25-27s. The knives are out in this group. It’s starting to get uncomfortable for the 22-24s. All of them are jockeying for position.

The three weeks per year only affects people that were less than maxed out, i.e. mid-career or younger (less than ~17 years). That's not incentive to leave, it's just some extra cash to survive since there are not too many opportunities on the outside. I don't believe it makes a 15 year career person with a mortgage and kids sign up to leave the company.

You wanna know the people at Chevron who are REALLY EXCITED?

All those who are intending to retire this year and are going to get one year's pay as severance. They should be easy to spot back at the office. They won't look sad, Around at least 1000 of them I expect, could be more now they upped the severance to 3 weeks per year service.

Here's the deal: if you get let go, you get severance, I believe if you accept severance you also forgo litigation, aha!

There another word for this it starts with the letters Br! lol

The fact that management has offered 3 weeks for every year of service instead of the usual 2 , tells me they want people to do EOI badly, it mitigates the chance of Litigation and it looks like they care more (which they don't). As to the excitement fakery, they live in another Universe it's called "Privilege" in THAT Universe, If you were earning the money they are and the bonuses, options, you would be smiling like cheshire cat all the time too . It's ALL about being positive and spinning negative into the positive crock they always do.(They are completely unconscious to it to: delusional thinking ). After all you would never hear them saying anything negative, duh. Advice to you "Be excited, be a boy scout, brown nosing the important people, and you will be fine, but never lose sight of the fact that it's all BS. other wise you will become just like em.

@2chx, Speak for yourself, you're squirming? They're laughing at you is all.
TMI. Best to keep your personal information private. Telling everyone about it on here won't make it go away, lol.

So funny watching all of you squirm. Even funnier when you are in unemployment line while your wife is filing divorce behind your back. So many of you worshipped at the altar of Chevron, all for nothing.

Have you wondered why there are more D&I folks in sports? it's about the only fair ground left.. your (and in most cases your dads) network will not get you a job there or get you the 1 PMP ranking and the promotions that follow.. No reasonable person would ask that some D&I person who is not qualified be given the job; people are saying make it fair. Let the best candidate win!!

@jeb If I’m let go and someone else then does my job later on and happens to be in the D&I camp, then I’ll point it out with a lawyer and get paid. You can call that victim or not, but It’ll be better than sitting there and taking it in the as*

The human race is discriminatory. It is in our DNA. No amount of manipulation is going to change that fact. How you adapt to deal with it will determine your lot in life. We all have the option to take control of our destiny or sit back and play the victim card. What are you going to do?

Did all of you guys feel like you were listening to someone that owned a C-sino? We are going to hold all of the cards. If we have to many hearts, we are not going to tell anyone but we will toss them in the trash and pull from a diverse set of hand picks cards over here in the corner. It sounds like the system is rigged. OH OH OH Now you have one white guy and 4 minorities going for a job. The other 4 white guys have no idea they were removed from the selection just because they were white. This is CRAZZZZY man. Just plain CRAZY.

Creating a diverse slate is discrimination period. So you are saying, if you have to many white guys appling for a job, you are going to just randomly remove them down to 1 and then add 4 diversity candidates. With only 4 chances to get a job, leadership would just be better off doing this behind close doors.

I would say that this scripted event was one of the worst performances this year. Come on people. You look like a bunch of mafia guys with your girl Friday asking questions. We have yet to have a white male facilitate these events because you are concerned about how it would look? I think we are passed that. Also, to the white chick, stop using the word EXCITED. We now know that everyone that says that already has a job guaranteed. Have some real feelings. Some of us will be loosing our job. We will be thrown into a job market similar to the great depression. How can any of you people be excited unless you don't have a soul. By the way, a soul weighs 21 grams. Just in case you are curious.

My favorite version of the “upper management” town halls are the one that begin with “the purpose of this meeting is not to provide new information”.

They are excited because it's been so long since they have been able to effectively trim out a lot of the dead wood that has been rotting on the tree. The new Chevron will be much better and stronger.

I like the fact they preach diversity and all the executives on the call where all white men. Except for the chick that was there throwing softballs to these guys. And executives please stop adding onto what the other says. Geez and looks like Joe was given some coaching on cleaning up his appearance and not look p-ss-d off all the time. Although I sense the executives get nervous every time he opens his mouth.

Colin from midstream is the only executive that specifically said they will not pick people based on race religion gender etc. That would be discrimination. However, they will create slates based on all of that. How is that not discriminating before not discriminating? Then they will circle back around to see if they picked correctly. If they chose poorly, they will then have to discriminate to get the numbers right. They are using that sly exec talk.

Why not let people pick the jobs they want and then select the best one? I don’t know why this is difficult. Some women/black/white/Asian people may want particular jobs more than others. So what? For instance. There are a lot of Asian folks that we have in naval architecture. So, are they going to discriminate against Asians because they are disproportionately represented in that area? Presumably people are hired because they rock at a job.
