Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Heres an idea

Instead of all the Carmen striking and refusing to work, why not strike in a different way and give 100 percent at your job? What are you going to get fired? How exactly would the company explain that? How could your Union excuse that? I challenge you to all give it a try, a reverse strike. Imagine the local media, nationwide media attention. Call out the company, or keep doing what your doing and lose your job anyway. If you can live with the fact that you have no courage or morals than i guess your good. But if you would like to try to stand up for whats right then get ahold of your Union and get there support. I dare them to tell you no because if they do, you all have a pretty good lawsuit on your hands. Fight fire with fire, be tactful, its the right thing to do.

@1sty, locomotives are done exactly the same way, it’s gonna go. If you report or object you can just be furloughed.

What a mess the employee to manager to executive to shareholder U.P is. Everyone is out to screw the other. Its amazing the company does so well. The whole place sounds toxic, like a bad relationship. Is there anyone who works there that has ever said enough is enough, lets be human to one another? Let me guess they were fired

That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. That's what the company wants. Why give them what they want? Have they been fair with you? No. They've cut everything for higher profits, and given you 3 times more work without the pay. F them.

Sometimes the Carmen bad order cars that aren’t really defects. And the tags get pulled.

This is another guy that doesn’t get it. The Carmen are doing their jobs, it’s the management that comes in either immediate after or on another shift and doesn’t bad order the cars in the computer and goes out and pulls the cards. When that happened the cars end up getting put on a train. The guys are repairing defects as they come in. However, management will either direct employees to another task or simply tell them to hold a car for parts and then simply send the car out. The idea that Carmen have all this control over the cars is just plain false.

I dont think OP is talking about laying down, but simply give 100 percent and do the JOB the right way. Not in a retalitory fashion, just simply do your job and be thourough. Bad order a car, inspect, repair what NEEDS to be fixed. They can throw whatever records they want at you if they want to single someone out to fire them, but are they prepared to have the entire craft d–g into to court by subpoena? Cause a good lawyer will do that. And question why is this individual being fired for the same offense this one did? Now we have opened up a big can of worms.

Malicious compliance seen and heard it used in both mechanical and transportation departments can’t remember what rule number it is. When employees were confronted about the pace of work slowing down they said we are just following the rules like you told us to do. Manager informed them they were being maliciously compliant and wrote them up for it. Now if that will stand up once it goes to a arbitration hearing no clue, but it would probably have validity in the kangaroo court you’re likely to get tried buy if you end up in an investigation for anything since they like to throw everything you’ve ever done at you in them.
