Outplacement assistance?

VP in meeting announcing volunteer rif mentioned outplacement assistance will be provided by Honeywell. Anyone who either took the previous volunteer or non-volunteer know what this service is?

I've been blocked on my IP address. So my backdoor message is get the Hell out of this scumbag company. Great opportunities are out there for talented engineers willing to take a chance. Don't let fear find real opportunities.

Went through it several years ago after the voluntary. Worth signing up for. Resume review was helpful as was healthcare webinar and the financial planning review. There were numerous webinars to choose from, mostly familiar stuff, but some good info. You could opt out at any time and since I had planned to (mostly) retire with some limited consulting, I skipped the new job search parts and bailed with an updated resume and a second opinion on my investment strategy. Not a bad service assuming it's still the same!

Another tip: If you don't already have a LinkedIn account, create one. Send invitations to everyone you know and have worked with. Networking through your contacts is the best way to find a new job. Good luck.

I used it. They do a great job rewriting your resume in a way that will get through mist company filters. Otherwise, what they tell you is basically what you already know.

You should use your both your contacts and the outplacement firm to your advantage. Most jobs will be found through your contacts, but they only get you to the hiring managers (the rest is up to you). The outplacement firm can help you polish your resume/Linkedin so that you make a much better impression with interviewers, increasing your chances of getting the job. You will have to take ownership of your interaction with the outplacement firm, but you should also recognize they see a lot more resumes than you do. Note that this advice is from my perspective as an experienced engineer/manager (I recognize it is not applicable to all roles).

I found their LinkedIn profile review to be useful. And they helped me to find specific recruiter contact info in their database. The outplacement service is what you make it. If you have questions or specific things you'd like them to do, then ask. If you don't then no one will help you because they don't know what specific help you need.

Yes, this service is someone making ten dollars per hour more than you who pops your resume into a key words software, spits it out, and crosses fingers that you get a call. Better off using your contacts from others you undoubtedly know who got popped by honeywell. And 100% honeywell popping you is the best thing that’s ever happened. I had two job offers making more within weeks after the last round.

Supposed to have it, but so far nothing has come of it.

The last time I sent out resumes (by mail) you sent your original to a service that printed them out on fancy paper.

Do take the outplacement assistance if offered, especially if you have been at HON for many years. I found a lot of things changed since the last time I had to write a resume for an external job (20+ years). As some others have mentioned, you might find out like me that a RIF is the best thing that ever happened to you!

The service offered to those RIFed is an Active Placement membership with Lee Hecht Harrison. https://www.lhh.com/us/en/organizations/our-services/career-mobility-and-transition#Active-Placement-
