Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

I'm so tired of this

I feel like they're using emotional torture on us to get us to quit on our own. Layoffs are coming, no they're not, yes they are, they'll be huge, they'll be strictly AERO, no they won't... And we are supposed to stay normal in all of that and continue our work like nothing's happening?

Spot on regarding "managing out". It is done with impunity (shame on worthless HR) and is inhumane. Very common. New managers are dangerous.

Recently watched a knowledgeable contributing co-worker have their life destroyed from it for six months.

Couldn't pay me enough money to do that to people. Disgusting.

OP is right. It is the most brutal form of a technique called managing someone out. There is a somewhat humane way to do it ( genuinely guide them to something new with dignity) and a bottom of the barrel way to do it ( bullying, toxicity, ridiculous goals, setting up to fail, ignoring, exclusion, ridiculing, isolating, constant criticism, unpleasant, etc. ) You can guess which way this company is doing it.

Yes, they do it to save the measly severance and unemployment hit.

Do a google search on managing someone out or managing people out. You will find a LOT about it

This technique can be very stressful emotionally and can bam good people. Don’t let the M F ers get to you with this. You are smart to have recognized it. Keep your cool but know you are not imagining it.

When this happens it means you have no future at a place, no matter what you do. You can try to tough it out and try to get severance but you darn well better start looking for a job because the chances are you are done unless your boss is changed. If you wait the stress can break you.

Seriously, today my doctor asked me if I liked working at Honeywell. He told me that several of his patients said they hated it. He asked me whether I'd like Money or Happiness.

Just stay strong, pretend that you are a dedicated employee and doing what you can but in reality, just do as little as you can get away with and look for another job outside of honeywell. Once you find a new job, drop Honeywell like a hot rock.

Don't let the caustic, disfunctionsl culture of HW AERO get to you. Stay strong.

True to be that it is highly frustrating and tiresome but as always, we knew this was coming and accept it. Spending your thoughts for one moment on it will not change anything.
