So, if the benefit year changes over on July 1, I am assuming it is almost time for Macy’s to either s**t or get off the pot when it comes to informing still-furloughed colleagues of where they stand, right?
I mean, stringing people (many who have been with the company for years) along since March is one thing, but continuing to do it when the federal unemployment assistance is scheduled to expire in July is another. That’s basically what many people have been able to survive on since this began.
However, I think Macy’s is now going to be forced to actually tell people where they stand, because I can’t imagine a cash-poor (supposedly) company like ours beginning to pay benefits for people they don’t actually intend to keep on their payroll.
Lets just hope they are kind enough to offer some kind of severance.
