Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Has any of the older IRIF'ed employees investigated an age discrimination law suite?

I have no interest in returning, but would like to see some push-back to the way those close to retirement were pushed out for no basis other than seniority.

There was no age discrimination and a lot of us volunteered, times are tough. I enjoyed working for Honeywell and had some great managers. If you don’t enjoy the people you work with or work for, try a different place. It’s up to you to manage your career. No company owes you a job.

You have to look beyond the RIF books to the following hiring wave of mostly Young fresh-outs. This is how they work out the older more-expensive employees over RIF/hiring waves. They hire more Young folks than they need so more sacrificial lambs will be available for the next RIF. You know you've seen the shift in demographic breakdown over time. Very patiently discriminating over time. This is how you do it without lawsuits. There is no lawsuit unless you look at both sides of the coin.

HR is told to carry a mix of ages in the RIF's to deter any age discrimmination lawsuits. If all of the past HR personnel and current were deposed in a lawsuit it would mean a real $ liability for HON. HR reads this website 2.

They were very careful to balance the old timers with an equal number of youngsters. That is why they went through the exercise of providing the list of job titles, ages, and locations to everyone who was let go.
