PM Modi meets IBM CEO Arvind Krishna; IBM commits big investment plans for India

Apparently AK is not subject to the pandemic-induced travel ban. Also, it's not just random chance that this meeting occurred today in India, as today is when 2Q20 results are announced:

Stop complaining and be part of the beneficiaries.

Hint: I know a few managers in an acquired company who does REALLY well meeting with them offshore teams. If you don't complain, you too might get a few trips.

Who needs video conferences when a 2 week trip would do?
Throw in some side trips to Goa when you are there and a few international layovers and you would never complain about offshoring jobs again.

There isn’t much left in the West in IBM! Could they be planning to move Armonk to India?

When I was still in GTS several years back now, nearly all the jobs were in India. Now, they've removed the "nearly" part. I can't imagine there are any more US jobs in GTS to send abroad, save for the managers making these decisions. Hopefully, AK is moving those there too. It's an abomination of a company.

Such a shame, but not surprised, Googles CEO is doing the same. Unfortunately the "I" in IBM stands for India, just look at the companies demographics.

IBM CEO briefed PM about IBM's huge investment plans in India.

More details at this article: appears they apparently didn't meet in-person, but via video conferencing, so AK didn't travel.

Plan for another large round of technology 'garage shops' to open off shore late 2020 and another round of layoffs in fall. GTS/GBS buh bye! If you are over 38....

Wow. Just Wow. As if Ginni didn't do enough damage to the US based IBM employees (to make them ex-IBMers), now they have the fox guarding the hen house. And, no doubt this meeting will translate to more and more jobs being sent over there. As bad as Ginni was, I very much doubt she'd fly half way around the world during a pandemic to announce we're doubling down on moving US jobs overseas.

This company is SO un-American now that I'm ashamed to say I once worked there. Horrible.
