Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Where to go from here?

I was considering leaving Exxon but not without having a new job lined up, of course. Sadly, it seems most of the companies in our field have the exact same problems as we do, so it doesn't seem like much f an improvement even when there is an opening. So what else are our options? Any ideas?

What's APPL? You think if you were actually investing in a company you'd know their ticker symbol

Are the 2020 layoffs started. I heard in July 2020. Is there any package and do most know in advance that there job is over via performance.

Thankfully after the last Oil crisis, since the recovery.. i have decided to allocate all the money I had with XOM unto technology companies like APPL. Just wanted to share that, 10MM is achievable, but you must own great companies that will do well no matter what, continue adding and give it time..

Be safe and stay sane. Ciao.

10MM is a really high number, even for a couple. To each their own though ... if I already had the money I needed, I’d be out on the golf course today!

We started 8 years ago. We now have enough money to never have to work, wouldn’t want that life style so we continue to save once we hit the 10MM number we will be gone

@previous poster ... you have what’s known in the FIRE circles as “F—you money”. Great position to be in. It makes you better at work too because you no longer care about all the office politics and busywork.

Start preparing your exit plan. While it may take awhile to figure it out, meanwhile continue to work and learn new skills (investing, hobbies.. whatever works for you) For all you know, you will continue working for Exxon but have a backup plan that is ready to catch you if you fall. Personally I had been on this journey for 6 years.. so I’m couldn’t care less if my paymaster close down tomorrow. Good luck.
