Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

What makes you stay at Honeywell?

For me it's my age - will be retiring in 2 years and I hope I do not have to change companies before I check out.

What about you?

What makes you stay at Honeywell?

No one is hiring right now and I’m pretty sure my position is secured through all this c-ap. I’m young though (Under 30) and almost left last year for more pay. Now I’m scared because I’ll be young blood at new place and will be first to be let go.

Honeywell is my only company since college. With my many years here and repeating instances of rejected training requests, I find myself with with no marketable skills and no one wants me.

Have a few years left before retirement. Leaving means I lose 401k match for those years. Get a decent amount of vacation. Of course, I lose money on each furlough, and if the match gets cut, or the pension is messed with ... all bets are off. Besides, I work with a great group of people who are skilled at what they do and have a passion for it. Whenever it happens, I'll miss that.

Because I'm not good enough to find a higher paying job that I'd be satisfied with.

I know I should be better, but I've gotten complacent and enjoy coasting at Honeywell because the work is easy and expectations are pretty low.

I'll probably leave in the next couple years.

I stay because they pay me to sit at home and watch TV and drink beer.

I stay because they pay me but I have one and a half feet out the door. I see problems and I could fix them, but why? Why even f—ing bother? I just do my 8 hours a day and patiently wait for my RIF. I do the bare minimum, nothing more. Not a second of OT. If my work phone rings after I sign off, too bad. For my upcoming furlough weeks, I just delete any email that came in while I was on furlough. The company doesn't care I wasn't here to answer them, so why should I? I don't. ;)

Same as the OP. I have 3-6 years left before I retire. Honeywell is not the best company that I've worked for, but it's not the worst either. The division I work for has actually been pretty good. Few RIFs and no furloughs in the last 10+ years. I really like our customer and my coworkers are great to work with as well. I really feel for you guys that work here and find it to be a soul crushing experience.

Generous compensation, unlimited vacation, great 401k match, super health coverage, and a deep sense that management has my best interests, and the best interests of society as a whole, in every decision they make.

Of course I’m joking, I bailed years ago after 18 years of steady decline in all of the above.

Health care for wife. Just don't trust that private insurance will be available. Just need it available, we can figure out the costs.

Age. If there was universal health care i would join the stampede out the door.

Age. I have worked at 5 companies, 5 states, and each change turned out for the better. Glad I made those moves, but at this point I don't think I would do justice if I tried to start at another company. I am not the manager type and don't think I want to commit many years to a new company. I have saved well and can retire. My next gig could be a contract, which I think there is some interest in the work I do. If I was under 55, I would look around.

I stayed at Honeywell for 40.6 years, left June 30, 2020 with severance. Over the time I had a good run. But have to say I stayed the last 10 year because of my age. I have seen Honeywell go down hill for many years so am Happy I am old enough to retire. I understand anyone who stays because they have a family to support and or are late in there career and need to make it till they can retire. But I agree
now is not a happy time to be at Honeywell.
