Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

What's the point of announcing major layoffs weeks ahead?

Is there some hidden benefit for the company that I'm missing? Because from where I'm standing, the only thing that comes out of it are stressed out employees who have to wonder for who knows how long if there name is going to end up on that list, which ends up affecting both employee morale and productivity.

You're another tone deaf drone that is too dense to get what is goingon. Honeywell could be positioning itself to do all the product development work while the economy is down. That way, when things come back, it could be poised to take the aviation market share by storm. Instead, the mental giants at the top s—ed the coffers dry to line their own pockets. Now , the day of reckoning has come and the bullsh1t shell game that dairya$$ and his minions have been playing can no longer hide the fact that Honeywell is done.

For those of you who haven't figured it out yet, Honeywell does care one bit for any of you. You can be the best worker doing 11-12 hours a day, singing Honeywell's praises, make sure you enjoy all that OT that your Rif'd colleague was ritually sacrificed for, because, no matter what your review says, they are going to tap you on the shoulder some day soon.

Their naster plan is hitting revenue targets for the quarter...that is it....their so calked "Pivot" is nothing more than putting a plug in the "Run Forest Run" dyke. I do not blame Honeywell for this particular situation....but.......it will take years for the Aerospace business to be viable so ALL employees have to look out for their families and unfortunately...leaving the Aerospce business as the rest of the economy starts to come back next year makes good sence.

@Anonymous, then I don't think you've been around for long. Especially over the last 4 years or so there have been constant layoffs, site closures, re-organizations, seemingly with no master plan, as re-orgs have been re-orged multiple times, one has had to do re-hiring after laying off too many as well in some cases... yes, the covid situation plays a big impact right now, but I think for most of it it is just accelerating what has been in the cards for a long time.

obviously, there must be some kind of master plan, or a sketch at least, behind all of this, but the details are not really known below senior management

There is no plan as this situation of a cascading effect brought up by all countries literally shutting down their countries has brought about an uncertain and an unpredictable future ahead. Put yourselves in the shoes of the ones that has to make those nasty decisions of furloughs, RIF, etc..and you quickly see the path ahead is filled with more question marks than answers. Quit complaining and just be thankful you have a job and if you, one day, do wake up and find yourself jobless make sure you get your dues and act professionally on the way out. Its no ones fault but natures way of dealing you a bad hand.

I would turn it around and say, what is the point of constant layoffs, reorganizations, changes, seemingly with no direction at all? I'd rather see the master plan on the table for all the employees to know what's ahead and plan accordingly, also giving the employees a chance to understand and commit so such a plan, or leave. If such a plan really exists... Now all employees are in a constant uncertainty, and I'd say that is by far the worst, not knowing what's around the next corner... It affects morale, performance, personal health, etc
