I am most happy on the two days each month that I get a cash infusion into my bank account. The other days are hit or miss.

I was pretty happy until a few days ago when I found out that the company has been hijacked by a bunch of woke fools.

How happy are you at Chevron? That’s the wrong question. The correct question is; How happy is Chevron with you? Answer— You’ll soon find out.

I am very happy, since I know first hand what it's like to work somewhere else, and am aware of what the alternative is, unlike most who post on these threads. Watch what you wish for.

How happy am I with Chevron? Truth be told, I was happy my first 20 years, but not happy enough my last 10. So, I gladly EOI’ed in 2016 and took my one year severance and pension lump sum. Call me lucky. From what I know that has been going on since I left, I’m certainly fortunate in many regards.

Working 14 years for Chevron saved my you know what, Also saving as much as I could in ESIP , and add the pension, I will be able to retire comfortably, sizable severance just sweetens the deal and 6 weeks of pay for doing nothing at the end of it! + 6 months Health benefits afterwards and UB. Over all I'm pretty happy compared with others who couldn't find a job at age 50 during the last recession. I will be immediately leaving the Bay Area to go live some where a lot cheaper and less hectic.

Never understood the "too flat" sentiment. Does that actually bother people? I love the comfort of not having to constantly navigate hilly terrain daily like where I'm from originally. You can always vacation anywhere you like, if mountians are your thing.

As happy or happier than I’d expect to be at any similarly sized company. This Transformation BS is tiring though.

Honestly the biggest downside is having to live either in Houston where it’s cheap or the Bay Area where it’s stupid expensive. I wish every day that I could live somewhere in Montana or New England or even Dallas with this same job.

No offense to Houstonians. Your weather is just terrible and everything is too flat. The people and the food are great though!

Very Happy. I see many of these entitled babies that come straight from college that have never worked anywhere else and never realize how good they have. Yes there is a lot of Corp political BS. Yes sometimes things may not seem fair. It’s a business with good salaries, benefits and perks. Like others I can’t stand the social justice c-ap. However, there is no perfect company to work at. If these whiners went to another company they would fine something not to be happy about there. Do your job and take pride in yourself that you did the best job you could. That by doing that you may impact a friend or co worker in a positive way. If you are looking for ever negative thing you will never be happy no matter where you work. The truly only way to be totally free and happy is to have a business idea, create your business and leave. I love the check benefits and perks. If I didn’t like working for Chevron I would leave.

Happy but just getting too old for all the bullish!t. The Kool aid doesn’t taste as sweet as the years roll on. Blah, blah, blah, smile, agree, cash the check, and enjoy the perks.

Just remember that working at Chevron is an excellent platform to move somewhere else when they no longer keep your job fun and challenging. CVX supplies abundant resources to build your career. Just remember that you’re working for your career, not for Chevron.

@noc, What is R&D? You don't work for Chevron or any other major. Get lost, troll.

What is R&D?

From an office engineering perspective It’s good for a big company. Lots of buzz words and cheer leading. The processes can get old sometimes. They are more concerned about the processes then about the technical knowledge.

From the offshore rig side it’s a great culture experiences and no backstabbing.

Very happy and happy is a relative term. You make the job, the job doesn't make you. I've worked hard, been dedicated to team goals before individual goals, resisted group think, and been able to increase my salary by 78% in 7 years. Not bad for a high school diploma. No, I don't work in oil field or refinery, I worked my way up through R&D. They offer endless resources to increase your employability, which could translate to almost any industry. Good work-life balance, yearly bonuses, align with my conservative values (most of the time) and provided a way to support my family. This is an excellent company with a long heritage of producing retirees who are millionaires if you take advantage of 401K match. Also, get a pension. How could you not be happy with that...unless you let your job make you.

The end.

Some of the entitled lifers are pretty miserable. Most external folks at smaller energy outfits would cut off their right nut to work at Chevron.
